Local council is called Derry City Council and have repeatedly petitioned to have the name officially changed to be just Derry but the DUP wouldn't sanction it when Stormont was open and when a christmas campaign by DCC called have a Derry little christmas was launched it had to be scrapped as a local DUP councilor said it wans't inclusive.


My uncle was stationed there from time to time when in the RUC and switches between both names if he talks about it.
