car chip tuning box

I don't know what this threads about, tuning chip boxes and remapping ?
Still...musty has posted so it must be relevant to him.

Depends on if you are planning on keeping the car long term or not. As someone said, manufacturer's spend lots of money getting optimum performance at a trade off with reliability. Tuning boxes, even revo which is one of the best on the market take the engine performance out of what the engine should do. Short term, it'll improve fuel economy, boost engine performance and maybe reduce turbo lag but long term, increase oil consumption and wear engine components. Sensors will fail, cats/dpf will fail and nothing but problems. In summary, if for a bit of fun short term, fill your boots. If planning on keeping the car for longer, 2 years plus, then buy a performance car that's built for what you want.

That's all good advice and I wouldn't argue with any of your points.
However there are engines out there that are woefully undertuned, and strangled by emissions.
A remap can actually bring them to life, making more bhp, more torque, and improved economy.

Edit, just re read your post, you were talking about boxes, not remaps.
Apologies
