Carabao Cup 4th Round Draw | Liverpool (H) | 8pm, Thurs 22nd December

That would wind up the press to no end, but it's a bit optimistic. :)

On the plus side, what a way to give them some experience of senior professional football, without sending them on loan. City might actually want that.
Yeah where City are concerned I'm forever the optimist. Surely that's what the academy is built for and is achieving. Churning out professional footballers. I read somewhere the other day currently there are 100 professionals that came out of Citys academy. Of course not every one is as successful as Phil, Cole or Rico but isn't the aim to give them the best chance to perform at their peak?
It must be tough balancing whether they're ready for the 1st team against stunting growth/hurting confidence but taking a risk & having faith in a youngsters ability is surely part of what City are about. Certainly since I started following them. I remember a piece in the evening news decades ago stating City were spending 2million a year on the academy...think it was around Alex Williams time..he may have started it. It's in the City dna. Bring it on I say. Let them loose.

I’m not sure about that. All depends. It’s not a great draw and I would have preferred an easier one.
Its a cracking draw. I'll be dying to see City back in action by December the 22nd. Most of the players will be up for it too. A full house after Xmas shopping.

Fixture is listed on the City app down as Tuesday 20th December 19:45

this might be a nothing game, in the grand scheme of things anyway. Its four days aftyer the world cup, we play in the league straight after that. I think Pep might use this to rest players. Hence same with Klopp. Whoever wins then whatever, its the end of the season that matters, and who manages the bigger picture better.

Probably all listed as Tuesday at the moment and then they will be spread out over Tue, wed and Thu like this week when Sky get their grubby mitts on them
They certainly won't have ourselves and United at home the same night. The scousers would be in for a night of hell if every lad in Manchester was in town.

Pity Liverpool play on the following Monday and not Wednesday like us or it would have made sense to have it on the Saturday.

I’ve just noticed that United and Burnley both don’t play until the 27th so there’s no reason I can think of why they couldn’t have that on the Saturday and spread the games out all week for TV if they wanted.

Given its the tie of the round, decent chance we play on the thursday 22nd with the draw after it so a couple more days rest but more importantly that's also a few days closer to the dippers boxing day game whereas we don't play until the 28th. Would influence Klopp's decision to go strong if it were the case.
Good point well made

Chelsea, followed by Liverpool. Well at least the conspirators of most of our rivals can shut up about us getting easy draws in the domestic cups.

No complaints, want us to win it against this year if it's our last chance for a while and the FA Cup too because we haven't won enough of those.
They won’t though, the mantra is Liverpool got a hard draw in the CL and they got another hard draw in the carabao

Oh god if that happens imagine how much pissing and moaning he will do.
