Cardiff fans convince Tan to go blue (maybe)

Just back from Tenerife and got chatting to a Cardiff fan and he was very emotional about this
He said his cousin who he had been going the game with for 30 years stopped going because of the kit change
He was so made up that they have changed back as it means his cousin will start going with him again

He the proceeded to sing on Kareoke any song that had the word Blue in it ! Including blue moon which he dedicated "to the champions sat over there" and pointed to our table

I remember Gary James saying the Sheik and his representatives asked all about the club and the fans and what City meant to them when he bought the club

It was Khaldoon and some of the other representatives. They called me in on their first day in Manchester (sept 2008) and asked about the significance of the badge; the old badge; how the club was formed; biggest heroes (spent a lot of time on Bert Trautmann) and so on. They had also been given copies of my "Manchester A Football History" by Thaksin Shinawatra (he paid cash; I obviously would've been worried about a cheque not clearing!), and it was clear they had done their own research because of the questions they asked (Red rose on old badge etc.).

Whenever someone buys into a club the least they should do is read a bit about the club's history and get to grips with the significance of the team's shirt colour, ground, badge, fans etc. It's not like buying a team in Brooklyn and moving it to LA, our culture is different. Fortunately, City's owner and chairman know this (mind you Thaksin also spent more time in the old museum asking questions than Alistair Mackintosh had done!).
Sure they did buddy

I included some of the details in one of my books, "Manchester The City Years", and you can actually read the chapter where I talk about this (chapter called The Journey) free on the Look Inside function of Amazon. Have a read here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manchester-City ... B00M74AHNW Then it'd be helpful if you bought the book of course. It details City's full history and I'm sure it will have something of interest. Cheers, Gary

see not cardiff fans are hooligans!

I actually work in Cardiff for a company that is full of cardiff fans. None of them have been since the kit was changed, not even when the club reached the holy grail of the premier league. to a lot of people, not going to support your club just because they changed from blue to red when the club and players need your support seems awful petty and childish. But too most "proper" cardiff fans (not the glory hunters who bought into the red and the premier league) the thought of just discarding 100 years of the blue and the bluebird tradition was just too much. I work with decent people 6 days a week and they tore up season tickets and swore never to go the club again whilst it was red. and for 3 years they have kept their promise...........until last week!

They are bouncing now thinking that they have "their" club back. It doesnt matter what league they are in. Cardiff is blue and thats all that matters to them.
