You guys need to get a reality check, the touch and vision of some of your players is light years away from most clubs players.

You caught us on a sunny day in August, with a split set of fans (rebrand) who all remembered what at essence we are, Cardiff City. We had our day in the front of the world against one of worlds most formidable teams.

We just taught your very clever manager a lesson about the premier league, I doubt he will take even Palace lightly after today

Speaking as a normal football fan, I hope you win the league. Be assured we hate Chelsea with a passion and doesn't the world hate united ?
Thanks for the post. I hope your team puts in the same effort for the rest of the season. if they do, you're season will be worry-free.

However anyone who thinks Mourinho, Moyes, AVB, and Wenger won't have similar days is deluding themselves. We saw a lot of what was wrong last season, particularly in terms of tempo and movement, tonight. The manager's job is to address that forthwith. I fully expect him to do it. No worries.

And if he can't, he won't keep his job but I'm not expecting that.

Good Luck mate.

No offence, but a City team on their game would have destroyed you, and that's what's worrying us.

Seems like City's reign maybe a one year wonder

Sorry Cardiff city fan again, well I have access !

You could actually throw it in the box a bit quicker, Dzeko is a beast. You tossed around with nice tippy tappy passes around the box and allowed us to reform our shape when the earlier ball (your second) caught us out. I don't think Mourinho will have much conscience about such philistine tactics.

Yep, shite all around. The knives will be out and the obituaries written. Welcome to the Prem Manuel!

However, amongst the wailing and naval gazing, the press will actually be doing Peller's work for him. A defeat tells you nothing about your players, it's how they react. Cannot wait for the next game.

Because Pellegrini's had the players for roughly seven weeks. I daresay he'll need just a tiny bit more time, especially when you consider he's managed them in only two competitive games. It's not really a huge leap for me to assume that things will change for the better as the manager gets to know his players, their limitations, their strengths etc. Plus it's a particularly difficult moment with Vinny, Micah, and Nastasic out at the very time we're looking for a centre half anyway because we're short having sold Toure. On top of that you've got three glaring individual mistakes from the usually reliable Zaba.

Definitely some room for criticism of Txiki and co for not having moved for a centre half sooner, but then no one's perfect. But beyond that all the whining is mostly from those who just miss their Italian hero. It's all sadly very transparent and predictable as I said.

How many games would you say we can afford to lose this year Bill, and still win the league?

Pellegrini does not have the luxury of sorting it out over the next say 10 games with 2 or 3 more defeats in there, or the title is gone.

It might be unreasonable to expect Pellegrini to get things perfect straight away - actually it is unreasonable. But the reality is, he has to. We cannot afford slip ups like this against Cardiff, 2nd game or 38th game makes no difference. Lose more than a couple of these and we are fucked.

Nobody will go the season undefeated, so I don't think we threw away the title today ... it's a hard league to call right now in terms of how many points will win it.

In terms of getting things right, you're right Pellegrini will have little room for error. But he will have some room. Tonight he used a little of the room. That's the reality when the league is as competitive as it is.

No worries.

Don't disagree with any of that. All teams will have banana skins of course. You just can't have too many of them. So whilst today was of course not terminal, it was a life lost and is bitterly disappointing after the buoyant mood on Monday. Bloody understatement.

I hope Pellegrini will sort it out, but he can hardly sell half the team and buy new. He is stuck with what we have and has to work with the existing players. Somehow he has to get them fighting like we saw in the last 5 minutes, for the full 90+ minutes. If he can do that, we will still win the league comfortably. It's in our own hands, it really is. That's why performances this afternoon are so bloody infuriating.

cheers Redbird.

Pressing

I thought pressing in packs was the biggest factor as to why we looked rampant against Newcastle but was in no way effectively implemented today.

We dropped deep and and we resigned with Mancini's covering style, and looked timid.

If we matched half of Cardiff's defensive tenacity today we would have been looking at a far different outcome in my opinion.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that as we have played teams who set up like you today on numerous occasions last season. Wigan went down last year and completely played us off the park last year. Also we played a newly promoted team first game last season and were given a run for our money so I reckon we knew what to expect.

Can't take nothing away from your men though I thought first half you were the better team, you contained us well and had the better chances. Second half I thought we were the better team and your goals came against the run of play but on a whole you probably deserved it.

I think the biggest challenge you will have this season is how you adapt to play against other teams and your away form. To be fair when you play the likes of City, Chelsea and United etc you would settle for a point and have nothing to lose. But when you come across the likes of Norwich and West Brom you need to win which will make the game a lot more open.

Anyway good result for you today and good luck for the rest of the season. I hope your boys stay up despite being Welsh ;)
