The point i was making is he didn't really use the "squad". The majority of the players used at West Brom weren't in our 25 man PL squad, they were EDS players. I for one hope he does the same again and gives the EDS lads some good first team experience
didn't we play that side because of quite a few injuries within the squad and having a league game against Chelsea at the weekend which we went on to win? probably would have had a stronger side out there if this wasn't the case
Exactly, many people might disregard it and say it's not major, like many United fans have done over the years, but, at the end of the day, we'd all be over the moon if we won it. If it wasn't important then we wouldn't feel like that about winning it.
Would have been nice to have someone like Vieira who could have come in to captain the side again for these games, as then we could have had a couple of youngsters in the team who he could have helped through it and they could learn from him. Nice balance of youth and experience.
It's important to start winning silverware on a regular basis now , even an annual basis , to show we mean business ...... and even though the Carling Cup obviously lacks priority , we should still aim to win it.
I think that because we have had a fair number sign up to the cup schemes, the attendances for the cup games should be fairly reasonable. In which case I think Bobby should be putting out a strong team, notwithstanding upcoming fixtures.
Would be great to win it again though. I always considered it "Our" cup. Not sure why really.
Like others have said, it's the least important trophy we are going after but that doesn't mean it's not important. It's a great competition to blood the youngsters and give the fringe players a run out.
It's a great competition as you want to go far but are not arsed if you go out of it plus you get to watch the younger players.
