Carlos arrested

The fine is obviously no problem, but the 250 hours.

If he does 4 hours a day ie around training that would take him 62 and a half days to complete at a couple of days a week you are talking the rest of the year.

Could this be the extra incentive to leave in the summer back to Argentina and between then and now do a couple of CITC events to satisfy the unpaid work side. And a couple of unavailable’s due to injury, treatment, commercial commitments.

Any thoughts out there on this

When the Everton keeper faced the same sort of thing his lawyers expressed some concern about his ability to do the community work as he was out of contract at the end of the season and wasn't sure where he would be playing.

Not sure how or if that got resolved.

There should be more sentences like this with the proviso of a heavy sanction if the terms are breached.

My thoughts are he should consider himself lucky and take it seriously.

Don’t misunderstand me on this, I’ve no problem with the sentence, you do the crime you do the time, I am just thinking out loud, will he still want to be here now or will his agents now start to look for a move (if they haven’t already been doing this)

I think he would understand that it's in his best interest to complete the order that's been handed down today, failure to complete the order would result in breach of a court order and an arrest warrant would be issued, at worst he could possibly face extradition from Argentina, at best he would never be able to step foot in the UK (possibly Europe) again without arrest and likely imprisonment. To run away from this would be a very serious error of judgment.

Lets be honest here we are not going to be handing out extradition orders for community service to a country that hates us. They would ignore one for a terrorist that slaughtered 40000 people

Some under-privileged, local schoolkids will probably get free football training.
This is exactly what cantona had to do for the 120 hours he was issued by the courts for his kung fu kick. If my memory serves me he was at a probation office in Salford kicking a ball round a few cones in a car park with half a dozen kids off ordsall estate.

If he were to leave the country without completing the sentence, then returned to play a CL game, he could risk being arrested for breaching the order.

Whether the argentine government would assist the extradition is another thing, and it wouldn't be issued for "community service" it would be issued for breaching an order of the court. That alone could cause Carlos some serious problems in relation to international travel.

The Probation Service do like this sort of thing. However, since Tevez used an interpreter in court and claimed to have poor English skills, they might decide he isn't suitable for this type of work.

Well if that's the case he's going to be sorting out bags of clothes at the age concern shop in Macc town center! ;-)

Its okay he hates the UK anyway ;) He wont break it as he isn't that stupid but if he went back to Argentina he would be fine, people who dont even flee the country are forever breaking court orders just to be told off and not to do it again

No worries, mate. I understand you weren't challenging the sentence.

Not sure if it will affect his future playing plans or what the club's intentions are either. I would imagine if he planned to leave the country before completing the sentence it might be possible for him to renegotiate the balance. I am only guessing though.
