Could he complete this via City in the Community events? Could even be argued that it should be backdated to CITC stuff he's done since he was caught.

Irrelevant to the major issue here. i.e. Respecting the law. He took the piss and should be punished. Kicking a football around with some kids from an estate (like Cantona did) isn't much of a punishment - Even if he has to do it for 250 hours.

There should be more sentences like this with the proviso of a heavy sanction if the terms are breached.

My thoughts are he should consider himself lucky and take it seriously.

Don’t misunderstand me on this, I’ve no problem with the sentence, you do the crime you do the time, I am just thinking out loud, will he still want to be here now or will his agents now start to look for a move (if they haven’t already been doing this)

If he were to leave the country without completing the sentence, then returned to play a CL game, he could risk being arrested for breaching the order.

there is no risk about it if he breached the order and didnt turn up to answer why a bench warrant would be issued and he would be arrested if he entered the country

According to Durham on Talkshite he's asked for time to pay the fine. Well, a week which should be ample to root down the back of his sofa and raise the cash.
