Don’t understand why Ben Knight would make the bench over him.

Pretty sure about a week ago I saw a picture on the official website of him training with the 1st team.

I do not think Knight (or Claudio Gomes) really had any prospect of getting time on the pitch and neither would Borges.

Ben Knight was really unfortunate with injuries last season which might have resulted in him not getting a loan this season. His contract runs to June 2025 which is maybe going to be an issue. I assume he will be quite well paid so, without a successful loan to showcase his talents, he may end up hanging around for the next three years.

Gomes is now 22 and has a year left on his contract. He did not pull up any trees on loan at Barnsley last year so maybe no interest in him transfer-wise.

I will be amazed if either get minutes for the first team this season - particularly as he have drawn Chelsea in the League Cup. Maybe just them being involved with the first team by being on the bench might help getting them moves in January.

Just 18 and making great progress - his time will come.

I think that his decision making could be better but, obviously, that only comes with age and experience. Once he achieves that then the sky is the limit. Very exciting prospect.
