Carlos Tevez

I agree with the post above and really hope Tevez stayes. Despite his past issues he was one of the hardest workers in what to my eyes had some very lazy performances from those around him. Fingers crossed for another 2 year contract.
I do understand his wages to case issues with them being so high.

If (big IF) Cavani comes, and Isco joins Pellegrini, I honestly think there's no place for Tevez. Cavani easily meets Tevez' workrate, Aguero is the worlds best poacher in front of goal, and Dzeko simply offers more options.
I agree Tevez has improved in his role as an AM, but still far too often he has his head down and simply does not see oportunities arising.
Than there's the issue of a contract-extension, and at 29 with such a massive salary, I can fully understand why Tevez and not Dzeko is the 1st one to go.

In the end for us fans it's simply mouthwatering to have discussions like this. Only 5 or 6 years ago ... incredible.

It's an unpopular opinion on here but he is on the slide. If you go back and watch him in 2010 vs. now he was a much sharper, more explosive and better player.

He's still a very good player but not an outstanding top-of-the-line player like he was. Our club may have seen that and that, in addition to his huge wages, may be a reason we're not exactly desperate to keep him.

It's a downhill slide from here IMO, maybe two very good seasons left in him but I don't think he'll ever be what he was when he scored 42 goals in 66 games over two seasons for us. Wish him well, take the money, and reinvest in the future.

Fair point !! Add to that the fact that he made the fewest passes to another striker in the penalty area than all of the others. Shows he isn't that much of a team player only looking for his own glory.

Apart from his apparent decline, and of course the fact that he's in the final year of his contract (plus looking fairly unwilling to commit further atm), is that it hinders our chances of investing in another world class forward of the Cavani ilk.

It's unreasonable to think that we can realistically fit Tevez, Aguero and [insert world class striker] in the same squad. It just doesn't balance well enough. Which other team has near enough to 3 world class forwards in the squad? I'm also far from convinced that Tevez & Aguero are actually effective playing alongside each other, as from my viewpoint it appears that they cancel each other out to a degree.

I hope we let the market do its thing, sell him at a reasonably inflated price despite his age & contractual standing, thus offloading one of our biggest earners and re-invest in a younger & more clinical forward.

Agreed we will not buy another on big wages until we know Tevez is leaving.

I'd only consider selling Tevez if we had a realistic chance of getting Cavani and with him wanting a move there I doubt that's a feasible possibility at present. In a more attacking system we'll see the best of Carlos, would be disappointed if we let him go abroad for the meager £10Mill that's been reported. Sign him up on another 1 year deal and have done with it!

It's easy to explain.

The relatively low fee we would receive for Tevez already factors in the pay-off required by us to get him off the books now.

It was the same with Adebayor.

We got £10m from Spurs but we only saw £5m as the other half was retained and made up of his signing-on fee/our pay off/the shortfall on his new wages.

Carlos has £10m remaining on his contract and we value him well above that.

Milan's offer to City is what we would still clear AFTER everything of the above is taken into consideration.

Carlos taking a wage drop isn't strictly true in the sense he gets to trouser the best part of £5m before he starts getting wages from Milan.

He is not entitled to any bonuses from City, having been fined £9m last year for going AWOL.

Wasn't tevez. The striker with the best work rate for us last season ?
If he'll accept a contract extension (2yrs maybe) I think it may be worth keeping him, as we aren't sure bout cavani.

Indeed, Tevez became a different player at the end of last year. He is the perfect AM behind a striker. Offers goals, incredible passing and workrate. He isn't the goal poacher/dribbler he once was... But his touch is world class.

To put it gently: In a game where neither Tevez or Aguero score a goal, Tevez most always has the better game.
But someone has to be on the end of all the good work and score a goal otherwise all the good play is meaningless.

It would be good for City to sell him because goals wise he doesn't offer much and he uses up resources

We need another top class striker and Tevez is no longer it. He was once the perfect foil for Aguero.

So apart from offering to us Tevez and Cleber - Kia has been asked by Galliani to find a suitor for Boateng.

Can't see him leave quick enough.
