Caroline Aherne

My missus was diagnosed with cancer in December and although controlled it scares the shit out of her (us) every time somebody loses the battle

Just on the way home from Rome after a cruise where she was blissfully unaware of real life going on but one minute on free wifi and we're back on terra firma

Got to live each day like it's our last so now counting down to age 55 (2.5 years) then I'm stopping work.... Sooner if things don't stay stable

RIP Caroline....

Terribly sad news, her range of characters from the Fast Show through Mrs Merton to the wonderful Denise in the Royle Family were always very funny.

A very talented comedienne and writer sadly gone at such a young age after bravely battling bladder, eye and finally lung cancer.

RIP Caroline and thank you for all the smiles you put on our faces!

Really sad news. She was a wonderfully talented writer, actress and comedienne.

Hoping Mrs BlueManc makes a full recovery

You're right, life is a gift. Live each day as if it were your last as one day it just might be.

Bladder, eye, lung and then throat cancer. Got her in the end. Terrible terrible shame - RIP Caroline and thanks for all the laughs you've left us. Watching Dinner Ladies followed by The Royle Family on GOLD will be poignant in the coming weeks.

Its always a shock when its someone younger than me too ! Somebody on here quite rightly said that the Cancer Research Ad shown right after Englands defeat the other night puts things into perspective. So true.

I saw her at Romily Forum years ago when she was just starting out. She did Sister Mary Immaculate, so funny. RIP

Genuinely funny woman, and there aren't many. Shame.

Royle family is up there with Fawlty towers and Only fools and Horses, Talented writer and naturally funny lady.
Loved the scene where Jim was complaining that there was nothing on the telly. Barbara then says "Do you fancy an early night Jim?" To which Jim replied (while frantically scouring the TV listings in the paper), "there must be something on the box". Brilliant.

It's an unspeakable affliction. Wishing you all the luck in the world blue

Incredibly talented lady and never seemed obsessed with fame either, you very rarely saw her on reality shows, panel shows, chat shows and celebrity game shows, she let her writing speak for itself, to be that talented with no ego is quite something. RIP Caroline, you'll be sadly missed.
