Caroline Lucas proposal to parliament

So did you think it was a daft idea or not?

Life is a mixed group. So I do think it's a daft idea.

However, far too many politicians these days seem to me to be unimprovably stupid, as well as being habitually mendacious narcissists/greasy-pole climbers in thrall to some kind of dangerously inane, unproven and ungrounded ideology. Netanyahu, Le Pen, Orban, Haider, Salvini, Bolsonaro, Trump, Johnson, Rees-Mogg, Gove, Farage et. al. are all morally repellent. And that's just the lying demagogues/nutters/incompetents on the right of the political spectrum.

So I do think that Ian Hughes's book could be worth a read (he includes examples from the Left as well).

And Lucas herself might have a point if the research I referenced holds up to closer scrutiny. I am not a psychologist, so I can't tell.

Plus, as the world increasingly starts to resemble the desolate, futuristic landscapes of Blade Runner 2049, maybe the Green Party have something to offer after all (though I have never voted for them).

This is a poor idea but you really wonder why Lucas is in there when we’ve got the likes of Francois and Raab, two utter imbeciles, in the party of government?

She’s been a dick on this occasion but she’s not one. Her party were/are the first ones to take climate change seriously, the biggest threat facing society as a whole.

The Greens don't take the problem of climate change seriously, they take protesting about climate change seriously. They are just like Corbyn, happy to protest, disappear when they run into the hard bit.

Taking the problem seriously would involve solutions but she is just happy to sit critical of the government. Where is her participation in the scientific or political effort for solutions?

She could lobby for more nuclear powerplants or lobby for more money to go into the big power companies yet instead she wants to ban nuclear and tax power companies more.... Brilliant work Caroline!

Nuclear is the cleanest and most viable form of scalable energy that we have... Why isn't she shouting from the rooftops for investment in it??

She's a moron, sorry, this statement about banning men more than reinforces it.

I mean, just basic googling research, as mcfc1632 would say, brings you to the negatives of nuclear power.

Here’s a snippet-

The primary environmental effects of nuclear powercome from uranium mining, radioactive effluent emissions, and waste heat. Nuclear generation does not directly produce sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, mercury or other pollutants associated with the combustion of fossil fuels.

This isn’t clean energy and isn’t the future.

Its pretty clear what their solutions are and can be found here-

Just have a read and tell me why it’s stupid.

And I wonder, when Lucas was formulating her potty idea - the idea that women are more consensual, cooperative and less combative - did she not notice that the person who has driven us to this precipice - the person who's perhaps the most stubborn, uncompromising and un-consensus-building Prime Minister we have ever seen - is actually a ****???

She won more votes than any other candidate in her constituency.

Neither here nor there with regards her comments.

Had it been a male asking for an all male cabinet and explaining it away like she has the demand for their head on a spike would be deafening.

In the current climate, I reckon it'd take a lot more than that to cause genuine offence. Letterboxes, etc. People wanted more demonstrations of freedom of speech, you get it from all sides these days.

Personally, as a thought exercise, I have zero problem with this. I've said before that we seem to be in thrall to men who act like little boys at the moment. JRM is an overgrown 3rd form toff, Trump a Baby, Boris looks somewhere between an ill kempt schoolboy and an actual toddler. They all play up on their image, gaffes, 'accidents', deliberately controversial comments for effect. It's like some sort of moment in the collective unconcious, and it needs pricking.

The lesser effect on the environment in producing the fuel is irrelevant whilst we currently choose the greater evil in producing AND burning it.

The whole point of sustainable power is also to produce sustainable equivalent power otherwise what is the point?

As it stands if we turn the taps to sustainable methods only, the lights would go off within a week. That is forgetting that if say 100% of the country turned to electric cars etc overnight then electricity demand would increase by a factor of thousands.

Nuclear could solve this but okay I look forward to the alternative, until then we could just glue ourselves to a road....

We have the ability to invest further in clean energy, enforce stricter regulations for households and businesses and to speed up the process of becoming carbon free. This needs to be a 100% focus on 100% clean energy, nothing else will do and the sooner we achieve this goal the better, we can then apply pressure elsewhere in the world and lead in a clean energy revolution.

I’m not on about, and Lucas isn’t on about, shutting off the tap now so nothing works. It’s about accelerating the process in which we arrive at our destination. We get to carbon free by gradually getting there, the Tories agree, Labour agrees, the Libs agree too. It’s just the Greens want to get their quicker.

Her all-female cabinet is a ridiculous idea, we shouldn’t be excluding people based on gender now, she is right on the fundamental issues though.
