carpet gripper

Which was my point exactly. No disrespect to the poster yesterday who said his mate had to pay compensation to a burglar who was convicted of screwing his house, but he is fucking lying. ( The mate, not the poster who recalled the second hand story)
You want to try reading this then you might stop posting bollocks.

When I was a kid you couldn't get past Ten acres lane.
Almost cycle friendly nowadays - turn right onto Briscoe Lane, take a left down Ten Acres at the lights, follow the road round and then a sneaky right onto the path at the back of the Velodrome - nice cafe, too, and there's Evans bike shop if yer need one! And a Decathlon over the bridge to Asda.

Some people of mature years Skydive, shoot down Welsh zip wires or even rock climb for their thrills. Riding through the Heath on the Rochdale Canal is a little too risky !

We used to ride our bikes in the canal as kids .... from the Heath to town.

On a tangent, we used to make fibre glass canoes at school (Brookdale Park) And then the teacher would take us on the Rochdale canal to use them, the stretch behind where Morrisons now is, from the lock to the bridge over Poplar St. One week we got there, and there was police all over, and all taped off. They had discovered the body of a woman in the lock*. And apparently it had 'been in there some time' .... we were learning how to roll and upright the canoes just a few feet downstream of it the week before.
We thought cracking our heads on an old shopping trolley or bike was the worse dangers we faced ... :D

* the body was that of Sharon Mossop, of nearby Brookes Drive. One of three women murdered by 'The Failsworth Strangler', Trevor Hardy, who later died in prison.

That info would have come in handy about 40 years ago mate ; )
We used to ride down the canal from up near Oldham rd. and then make a left at Tootals or the clay pits, then across to my Grans on Staplehurst rd.
