CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

So should I compromise my feelings about the daily mail ?

I've read most of it now, yes its good but Samuel should find another job, though I couldn't recommend one as I hate the whole bunch.
Maybe not if it irks you that much mate but it was nice to read an article that just nails it.

Anyone else still buzzing from the result haha

Yes - absolutely...

Woke up expecting at best to only be a year ban. So I did not check news or social media. But I got to work and my VP of Finance had sent me a Wall Street Journal article - title of email was “Manchester City”.

* sigh *

But I opened it and...

...what a Monday morning!!

It will be very interesting to read the entire ruling; I'm looking forward to it.

I have to say one positive of being an American is that sports journalists here tend to be more neutral and unbiased in their approach to things like this in other sports. They tend to leave their allegiances at the door. I haven't been on top of the Delaneys and Harrises and Castles of the world for a long while because it became clear when I started to read them a few years ago that they wouldn't approach City rationally as quality commentators, but would rather twist narratives and sometimes even facts to suit their own preconceived notions (and to get clicks from those clad in red). So I stopped paying attention.

Returning to them today, I am truly shocked at the glossing over of the critical facts; doing things like replacing the word "uncooperative" with "obstruction"; the focus on "what it all means" about FFP and football generally rather than the cold, hard truth in the motherfucking very first headline of the CAS decision summary. This is editorializing, not reporting, and not adding insight. Generally speaking, for all the sewage in my country, we just don't do sports journalism that way here -- at least not in my view. That's been the biggest bone in my craw today.

Nonetheless, as a finance guy the only thing I was truly worried about was that we had somehow deceived our auditors, which I never thought we did, and its now clear (again in the the first several words of the release) we didn't. I'm not really enjoying the salty tears of journalists and other fans -- I'm embarrassed for them that they can't approach this issue in a clear-eyed and detached way or bother to read and understand the same (albeit wonky) facts guys like @Prestwich_Blue have been patiently walking us all through for months on end.

In the end, I have to believe this entire experience is enormously galvanizing for the side, Pep and all those who work so hard for the club, not to mention the fans -- the entire organization and their loyal customers are unified completely.

I'd bet the best is yet to come for MCFC.
