CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

I wonder if Watzke is some sort of stooge for Bayern at Dortmund. Bayern have a lot of influence over Dortmund after bailing them out financially.

Don’t know about that but it’s laughable how much they lube up and allow themselves to be bent over by Bayern, regardless of the bail out.
To that end, I’ve never understood the Dortmund love-in from some of our fans. Sure, the Yellow Wall is a sight to behold but there are many other German clubs with atmospheres equally as good. I’ve seen City play European games at Schalke (twice), Hamburg, Bayern (twice), Dortmund, and Gladbach. I’ve also been to watch 1860 Munich play a run of the mill league match in Bundesliga 2. I can honestly say that with the exception of Schalke the first time when we beat them 2-0 in the UEFA Cup and largely outsang their fans on the night, that the Dortmund atmosphere was no better than any of the others, and in some cases worse, despite them beating us 1-0 in a match where we’d already failed to qualify for the next round. Don’t get me wrong, they were quite loud but they saved the loudest noise of the night for booing Balotelli when he came on as a sub for some weird reason.

I cant think of another industry where new investors are discouraged by regulators to protect the established players. It feels like a firm whose membership is closed of. This won't remain the case though, sooner or later this will be challenged by a owner/club looking to take on established elite.

UEFA now wants to reconcile with city? Lol they just want to save face. Probably the proposal given to khaldoon would be that we, ll shut up but don't take this any further for our sake.

The best I have seen was Pozan and Aris away! The German stadia are great (and the country) but I feel the atmosphere (with megaphones etc) is a bit staged. It is particularly bad at Bayern. Hamburg was good. Poznan was just mental for 90 minutes.

It’s all part of this peculiar post-truth trumpian world we now inhabit, where people believe demonstrable lies before the truth because the lies are more comfortable and sit better with their point of view.

The lies require no thought, no analysis, not even the slightest attempt at any sort of critical thinking no matter how glaringly obvious the lie is.
You repeat it again and again and with each repetition it becomes more believable.

It sways public opinion and even wins general elections and referendums.

The lie is now the most powerful weapon on the planet.

Joseph Goebbels likes this quote.

It is unfortunately true what you say although its nothing new and the concept of propaganda is an old one. Its effects can be seen in the absolute shit storm occurring in the USA where a game show host and failed businessman rules the roost by Twitter and the whole of the GOP are shit scared of the inane ramblings of an increasingly despotic totalitarian whose failed leadership is flushing the country down the toilet. Much though I titter at the yanks misfortune and schadenfreude as they voted the imbecile in you can start to see the evidence of a weak USA as Russian and Chinese Secret Services operate unhindered in Western societies. Cozy Bear for Christmas anyone?

Where are the worlds free thinkers and public servants who havent sold their backbone for 30 pieces of silver? They need to stand up and soon!

With the Goldman Sachs loan - Barca are effectively managing a debt of £1.5 billion! The interest payment alone on that is going to be circa £75 per season - then they have to pay the capital off too over 20 years on the £800m from Goldman's (another circa £40m a year) . I'm sure Barca have a wildly optimistic business case showing a whole range of new revenues streams from the new stadium etc. but often these are never realised. This venture will end in a local government bale out or bankruptcy - which as the OP has said will just mean the debtors get a few pence and Barca will carry on afresh without sanction. And where is FFP in all of this?

Goldman Sachs are doing loans of £1.5B at £75 per season, can you apply online? I'll have a bit of that ;)
