Cashless society

I thought the Sainsbury's issue was just my local one, didn't realise it was nationwide. The chaos in there, makes you wonder what would happen if the whole country went down. There we people actually screaming at staff, was ridiculous

went to mine this morning, its only contactless that is down, which screwed me completely as I was paying by phone, had to go home and get a physical card for the first time in a good while.

Apparently people in the store when it crashed were allowed to take their goods and return later to pay for them.....not sure how thats going to pan out
Let’s just say it’s a good job there’s no Sainsbury’s in Middleton.. haha!

Lovely behaviour. A national tech outage is all Kevin the 17 year old Saturday lad’s fault.

Some people are absolute cunts.

I’ve just received an email purportedly from the CEO Simon Roberts, explaining and apologising.
Chip and pin and cash still ok apparently and those expecting a delivery will get a voucher.
@CTID1988 you are right, people screaming at staff is ridiculous. They can’t do much about computer meltdown.

The amount of profit Tesco and Sainsbury's made over the pandemic due to local shops being closed, giving nobody any choice but to shop there, then not passing any of that profit back onto the customers, constantly upping their prices was a disgrace. Would love to see them go under personally.

It'll probably cost them less and give them better publicity than if they'd made a bunch of people who'd just done a big shop leave without buying anything. And some people will be honest, so they'll get some money back.

What flavour is the voucher?

That would be rather harsh on thousands of innocent employees. Not that I condone the flagrant price gouging.

Cough .. Rhodes is Middleton-ish. Anyway thank you for my order tonight Tesco, and bang on the button at 17:01 hours.
One item substituted from twenty three and that was the one litre bottle of Tesco gin substitued for two bottles of 700ml Tesco gin, so do your sums. Sainsbury charge for dearer substitutions, which is why when we use them, we don't allow them.

Also no item in our basket exceeded an Aldi price ..Hoozah!

I had to bite the bullet and get a pinging card because it's becoming more and more difficult to get everything with cash, I am still carrying cash but they might as well print a barcode on my forehead and have done with it :
You could always get one of these

Once id cards come in it will be on their agenda to become cashless because they want to track everything you spend and can track everything you spend and earn. Taking cash as payment will become a thing of the past.
