Been on my own for a few weeks with the cat and really bonded. She came in the other night and was head butting me as I lay down. Googled it and it is a sign of affection. Was worried as she didn’t seem to be drinking much water. So I went to Pets r us tonight and they said they don’t like to drink water next to where they serve food so I ended up buying some sort of drinks fountain as they like running water apparently.
biggest stress for me is when she goes out and I shit myself she is never coming back. Takes some getting used to.
enjoying being a cat owner though.

always had cats - unlike dogs they are pretty independent individuals who require less input. Thats the received wisdom espouse by non-cat owners - then you get one and they natter to you and they lie on the bed, they get under your feet and want you to get up at 3am and come down to the kitchen just to WATCH them eat !! Ours eats in the kitchen but drinks water on the landing - changed twice a day wherever possible.
They all have their own personality but so do dogs and horses I suppose - our current cat is a stray that decided we were her next home and she has been here 3 years. I had a previous cat for 23 years and when she dies I vowed never again as her death broke me for so many reasons but the minute Millie came into the house I was happy to have her. She clearly doesn't favour me - preferring my wife and daughter - but that makes the headbutting and wanting to snuggle up on a cold night even nicer.
I like dogs - we had them as kids and 2 of my sisters have several but for me cats just have the edge for ownership.

Got a kitten for my little girls birthday back in May, had never owned a cat or any pet other than a goldfish before. She can be a pain with biting feet although this is rare and she seems to have calmed down now she goes out.
She has taken to going out really well. Always comes back but she lost her collar the other day, got a phone call yesterday telling us the collar had been found, she’d walked into someone’s conservatory and their cat chased her out and they had a fight, although she didn’t seem off or have any injuries. She doesn’t go that way now when she goes out (in peoples gardens and along our back wall) but instead climbs over the fence and goes out front, which is making me worried about cars etc.
She’s an affectionate cat most of the time, but like has been said she does not drink enough water. May have to invest in one of them running water things someone mentioned.

Your Cat is lucky to have you mate, sounds like you two are getting along just fine.
I stand by the back window shouting my Cat if he's been gone too long, I know it makes me sound like a right tart but I just don't care ;)
My wee woman having tough time last few weeks. Couple days struggled to walk (almost like drunk), looks like back legs not strong enough to support her. They thought maybe arthritis. Had 2 weeks of meds then x-ray on Tues just gone and it showed up potential calcification of spine. Another 10 days meds then back for assessment. Not herself yesterday hoping that's just down to having anesthetic, hardly eating, no fight when giving her the tablets. Hoping it's just down vet visit.

Cats will sneak a drink at the sink or out of their bowl , if they go out they are probably drinking outside , it is very rare for a cat to get hydrated esp if they eat wet food
You are brave letting a bengal out ,i would say only on a harness as. they are so valueable ,play sessions twice a day and a harness walk would be safer
As for the headbutt , you are very honoured , she loves you

We have started to feed a local stray ( Unneutered tabby Tomcat ). it used to wander around aimlessly meowing really loudly looking pretty sorry for its self, under weight, Battle scarred from fights etc
since we started feeding it his seemingly a lot more content, dont hear him meowing half as much, putting some healthy weight back on an his fur is so much softer now.
we even bought him a cat house so he can sleep in the garden in a nice dry environment and he's loving that.
we dont let him in much though as being un neutered he sprays lots.
Proper soppy sod now though.
since we started feeding it his seemingly a lot more content, dont hear him meowing half as much, putting some healthy weight back on an his fur is so much softer now.
we even bought him a cat house so he can sleep in the garden in a nice dry environment and he's loving that.

Currently at the point of asking around to see if we can find the owner. he has a sigificant roaming range. if we dont find one soon we'll take him in and maybe look at full adoption ( including neutering ) if he's not chipped.
Bengals are lovely. We had one for 18 years. Age 16 she got cancer and had to have her left hind leg amputated but still got around marvelously and didn't really know she was missing a leg. But the cancer spread into her lungs and when she couldn't breathe easily we knew it was time and I think she thanked us as the vet put her to sleep..
