Freddie Adu is the obvious comparison because of age and nationality but he was also labelled the “new Pele” and really then destined to fail.

Aguero made his debut in Argentina at 15 and turned out just fine.
 
Kid really seems to say all the right things. Third generation soccer family here in the US which is super rare. Will be interesting to see his growth over the next 3 years. Nothing at all similar to Adu except the age.
 
Actually didn’t look too out of place. You can obviously tell he’s 14 based off size alone, but wasn’t afraid to go forward. Even was able to get a SoT within the 8min he was out there.

Obviously a long way to go, but if this kid happens to be the first true world class talent out of America we have played a blinder here. Going to be a sponsorship goldmine if he turns out to be good enough to play for our first team.

My son is about 9 months younger than Cavan so I know this age group. I would say Cavan looks quite young - however, I do think the bleached hair makes him a look a bit older. There is obviously a huge range at this age but if was hanging out with my sons friends, he’d be one of the smallest ones.

My feeling is, in the US (where I am) youth “soccer” prioritizes small/quick kids very early on. My 9 year old was told “he’s too tall” for “soccer” and he is by no means a giant!!

From what I remember, a Man City clause was inserted into his contract with Philadelphia. He can't join us until 18 but if he develops well, he might join another CFG team in Europe earlier than that because he holds German passport/citizenship.
