United replaced Rooney with RVP.

Lewandowski was there initial target, but can't see them going for any major CF even if Rooney goes.

They need to spend on midfield IMO
They need to spend in both areas. They can't rely on RvP staying fit for a whole season just as we can't with Aguero or Barcelona with Messi. It's too risky.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

Haven't seen it posted yet but aparently we are in talks with him and a possible Dzeko swap deal.

What if Utd sell Rooney? Could happen, if so how do they replace him?
They don't. Like when they sold Tevez. Or they replace him with a cheap alternative, like they did with Ronaldo. Nothing about Utd's transfer policy over the past few years suggests they're going to be breaking any transfer records any time soon.

CFC will certainly be in for a striker and must be running the rule over Falcao and Cavani

We're runners-up, and we don't have a record worth mentioning in Europe. If CFC or Utd are interested then we are 2nd or 3rd favourites. Utd gave RVP and Rooney huge wage packages so they can compete in every sense. Chelsea also have London which is an advantage
But we've been attempting to do this deal for over a year. We're clearly the club that really wants him. I suspect that would count for something.

I agree. They have only made one 30 mil signing. So for them to sign a 50 mil player seems a real stretch. In their mind I think they see Chicharito and Welbeck as top players and want to get kagawa more games in that #10 role so they really don't need another top striker even if they sell Rooney which I seriously doubt. They would want a big transfer fee and I don't see anyone willing to do that. Honestly who would really be interested? Chelsea and PSG. Would he even go to PSG? Would he even leave the northwest?

Utd didn't sell Tevez, his loan was up and they wouldn't renew it or pay the signing fee. For some reason it was OK for them to sign a player owned by a third party, but not for West Ham ??
