Im not in the slightest ITK so this is just my own opinion, but I think out of the 3 clubs (us chelski and Real Madrid) that are possibly in for him we would be the least likely to get him.

If Madrid pay the money he will go there above us and chelsea...they are argueably the biggest club on the planet with some of the best players in the game as well.#

If it is between us and chelsea>

Chelsea will have Mourihno > Pellegrini (just in reputation alone)
Chelsea will pay agent fees (look at what happened with hazard) and will offer the same money regarding wages
They have torres as a possible sway option and now with Rafa at Napoli you would think h would rather have torres than dzeko having worked with torres before.

We cannt offer Cavani anything they cannt
I think you might be right mate.

With Mario (€20m) sold and Dzeko likely to go back to Germany (€20m) - I think we will pay the money (€20m net) - and get him.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

Madrid clearly have something going on with Falcao. Why would he go to Monaco, there is nothing for him there unless he has the promise to go to Real after to overcome the Atletico to Real move. I am certain we will see Falcao move to Real in a few years if not at the end of next season, and therefore they certainly will not want Cavani.

We don't even know that Chelsea are interested, they have Torres who Abramovic is desperate to see succeed and they have Ba who was freshly signed in Jan. Added to that Lukaku had a successful loan spell and is very much in the mould of a certain Drogba whom Mourinho used as a focal point of his Chelsea team in front of mobile and skillful midfielders.

Cavani will come to City, it just needs us to tie everything up. But we will not let another player slip through.

You may be right but if Chelsea bailed out on Falcao i.e. wouldn't pay the fee are they in for a €60m striker. Their interest will surely rest on what Torres does - Roman paid £50m for Torres - shipping him out for £20/£25m will represent one hell of a climb down by the owner. As for RM again they might but their finances are not great - the banks are in one hell of a mess and we really don't know if Cavani is a genuine target - if Bail is a target they won't go for both without shipping lots of other players out. I'm not saying we will get Cavani but I think we will give it one hell of a go and we would have distanced ourselves from the deal as we did with Neymar and Falcao - if we didn't think we had a fighting chance.

Going by what others have said on here, He is mostly 3rd party owned and has very little say in where he ends up.

Chelsea and City target Cavani 'dreamed' of Spain

Chelsea and Manchester City's hopes of signing Napoli striker Edinson Cavani have been dealt a blow after the Uruguayan admitted he dreamed as a boy of playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Cavani, Serie A's top-scorer last season, has been linked with a move to the Etihad or Stamford Bridge in the English press, while the Spanish media insist Madrid is his preferred destination, but the 26-year-old says "only God knows" what his future holds.

Cavani is currently back in South America preparing for Uruguay's busy upcoming schedule, which includes a friendly against France on June 5, a World Cup 2014 qualifier against Venezuela on June 11, and the Confederations Cup, which begins June 16.

And he told local reporters, in comments picked up by Spanish newspapers Marca and AS, that playing for either of the La Liga giants had been his ambition when growing up.

"When we are little we always dream, and the first teams that come into your head are those on the world stage, for their marketing, their image, their publicity," Cavani said. "That makes you dream about how nice it would be to play for Real Madrid, to play for Barcelona."

Asked whether he was aware of firm interest from Madrid, who reportedly want him to replace the outgoing Gonzalo Higuain, Cavani was coy.

"It is all an unknown and nobody knows," he said. "When the moment comes we will see. As long as there is nothing signed, there is nothing done. All the talk does not concern me nor distract me. Only God knows what might happen. I am relaxed with what I am doing."

Cavani's current contract has four years left to run and new manager Rafael Benitez will be eager to keep his star man, while Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly unwilling to accept anything less than the €63million release clause.

And Cavani suggested that staying at the Stadio San Paolo is a perfectly viable option.

"I have a contract at Napoli," Cavani added. "I ended the season not long ago knowing that we had achieved a nice objective in qualifying [for the Champions League] and also fulfilling a personal objective that is very important for me: to be the top scorer in the league. [Napoli] today are one of the most famous teams in the world."

Last year we didn't have Ferran and Txiki managing our transfers. Don't under estimate these two when it comes to getting players. We are also out to make a statement and have money to spend. I can see us being ahead of Chelsea for Cavani.

That just makes the Monaco to Real move make more sense.

I don't know if Monaco have bought him outright, is 3rd party ownership allowed in France?

That may well be true but we would all be surprised (wouldn't we) if the world's most iconic striker currently, stays at Monaco long term. He is a Real signing through and through. A big name who is well known and feared throughout European football. Cavani is obviously a massive name but Falcao is a level above in that regard (in my opinion he doesn't offer much more playing wise) and to Real the most important thing for the club and fans is the name. We have long been interested in Cavani and I am confident we will make this happen. I'm not too worried about speculative comments about his want to go to Spain etc. I am pretty sure Aguero/Silva etc didn't grow up dreaming of playing for City, but they are damn glad they do now!
