With Mario (€20m) sold and Dzeko likely to go back to Germany (€20m) - I think we will pay the money (€20m net) - and get him.

so will chelsea and madrid......therefore my other points still stand

Last year we didn't have Ferran and Txiki managing our transfers. Don't under estimate these two when it comes to getting players. We are also out to make a statement and have money to spend. I can see us being ahead of Chelsea for Cavani.

no reason to doubt them, but I also have no particular reason not to - what is the basis for your assertion?

There is a lot said of the ability of these two. I think given their success at Barca their names proceed them and that is always good in business. They are well qualified to sell and negotiate and they have a better understanding of these dealings. We lost out on RVP mainly on him wishing to go to the rags. And our stance on agent fees was the reason Hazard didnt sign. I think if we take the position of we want Cavani no matter what, we will get him. With Napoli being tough negotiators it is no surprise it may take a while until it is resolved. They are simply playing games. They want to cash in on him, they want to drive the price up but City will have a stronger strategy this year given what happened last year and hopefully Cavani signs for us!

The story is he wants to go to Spain ... Barca or Madrid .... that's fine if they come in for him, as long as we don't let Chelski sign him!!

What story?

I haven't seen any quotes?

Do you have any?

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

Abramovich will not want to give up on Torres easily imo, and if he was offered in part exchange for Cavani then Torres wages would become more of a problem than Dzeko's.

Torres ain't going nowhere. Maybe to Athletico as part ex for Falcao but other than that no. He's stated wholeheartedly he's seeing his contract out. He's on 10m pa and he's unlikely to get a move to a top club anywhere else.

Napoli wouldn't pay his wages and a swap would involve paying Torres up in shortfall of new wages, does he fancy Napoli is a topic too. He's great mates with Mata and has scored a score of goals this season (pun intended).

Chelsea need strengthening elsewhere, RB ain't all that. CB needs a top player to replace Terry, an holding midfielder better than Romeu and Mikel too. There's easily 60m to spend on those, maybe more!

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

Chelsea and Manchester City's hopes of signing Napoli striker Edinson Cavani have been dealt a blow after the Uruguayan admitted he dreamed as a boy of playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Cavani, Serie A's top-scorer last season, has been linked with a move to the Etihad or Stamford Bridge in the English press, while the Spanish media insist Madrid is his preferred destination, but the 26-year-old says "only God knows" what his future holds.

Cavani is currently back in South America preparing for Uruguay's busy upcoming schedule, which includes a friendly against France on June 5, a World Cup 2014 qualifier against Venezuela on June 11, and the Confederations Cup, which begins June 16.

And he told local reporters, in comments picked up by Spanish newspapers Marca and AS, that playing for either of the Liga giants had been his ambition when growing up.

"When we are little we always dream, and the first teams that come into your head are those on the world stage, for their marketing, their image, their publicity," Cavani said. "That makes you dream about how nice it would be to play for Real Madrid, to play for Barcelona."

Asked whether he was aware of firm interest from Madrid, who reportedly want him to replace the outgoing Gonzalo Higuain, Cavani was coy.

"It is all an unknown and nobody knows," he said. "When the moment comes we will see. As long as there is nothing signed, there is nothing done. All the talk does not concern me nor distract me. Only God knows what might happen. I am relaxed with what I am doing."

Cavani's current contract has four years left to run and new manager Rafael Benitez will be eager to keep his star man, while Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly unwilling to accept anything less than the €63million release clause.

And Cavani suggested that staying at the Stadio San Paolo is a perfectly viable option.

"I have a contract at Napoli," Cavani added. "I ended the season not long ago knowing that we had achieved a nice objective in qualifying [for the Champions League] and also fulfilling a personal objective that is very important for me: to be the top scorer in the league. [Napoli] today are one of the most famous teams in the world."

Thanks.

The above is complete pie in the sky IMO.
Which footballer,as a child, wouldn't have dreamed of playing for the top teams on the planet?

It has no relevance to reality, whoever puts the money on the table will get his services. If that's one of the Spanish teams then yes,i'd expect him to go there.
