Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 151 onwards)

I have been sick to death of thick as £&)@ united fans who think we only go for "their" targets . But worse is City fans doing it now - honestly are people clueless enough to think that some of the biggest sports teams in the world only go for players and year of them because the sun or express carries a story that one of their rivals are after them?

Cavani has often been played as a winger for Uruguay and not been in the best position to score.

An article about the Cavani international enigma: <a class="postlink" href="http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/tacticsandanalysis/id/287?cc=5739" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/tacticsan ... 87?cc=5739</a>

It isn't exclusive to him. Messi doesn't even have a 1-in-2 goal scoring ratio for Argentina. Ronaldo has scored 38 goals in 102 games for Portugal... he averages more than 1 goal per game for Real Madrid. Huntelaar has been better than Van Persie for Holland but we all know who is the better club striker. Aguero - 17 goals in 43 caps, another big name who can't even manage 1 goal every 2 games for his country.

That's only argument for my point.

I'd exclude Messi from that as after some years where he was far below at national team, in last year or so he is playing for Argentina at same level he does at Barcelona, maybe bit below.

Aguero, Ronaldo, van Persie, are players who played for numerous clubs and were world class in all of them. Ronaldo is also not playing on his best position at Portugal as Nani takes that one usually so he operates from opposite site than he does at Madrid.

Cavani did not. He was OK at Palermo and only place he played at top level is Napoli. Much different than any of those you mentioned above who proved themselves in different clubs and often different football styles.

So, no, that doesn't prove anything. Nor he proved he is 60 millions player or that he'd produce same level football at new club with different style of football and where he won't be the only top star, and that's what he'd get at both Chelsea and City.

World's gone mad so at current time it should be 30-40 mil. but 60, it's abnormal. You pay that money for Messi, Ronaldo and Bale. Nobody else, not even close.

Haven't read back through thread so apologies if already mentioned, but listening to Mullock earlier on talksport basically saying we have cooled on him as they want the full £52m.
Tbh, their chairman has been and remains someone id be v happy if we never did any business whatsoever.
As Tolm suggested earlier, at 52m I'd rather sack Napoli off & go the whole hog & pay £70m for Ronaldo (or Bale).

Bale is game changer unlike Cavani and I'd rather pay him 70 millions than Cavani 52.

If we refuse to pay £52 mil for Cavani theres no chance we'd pay £70 mil for Bale.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 151 onwards)

if we don't get Cavani, it'll be interesting to see who we have lined up as an alternative. I've already stated who I would like to see if we don't get Cavani.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 151 onwards)

We won't get Bale, I'm fairly sure, it's Madrid or Rags, these Brittish young players will still pick Rags before City in most cases unfortunately, but I know who'd I pick between him and Cavani even if I had to pay more.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 151 onwards)

Levy is just as stubborn as Laurentiis, so there is no chance Bale will move now that Ronaldo is signing a new deal at Real.

There seems to be a growing number of sources suggesting that Pellegrini is open to the idea of keeping all three of our strikers and buying no-one.

I wouldn't be 100% thrilled with that considering our poor chance conversion last season but I suppose if you can get 13 goals out of Roque Santa Cruz in a poor Malaga team than you must think that getting goals with Aguero, Tevez and Dzeko will be piss easy.
