Do Chelsea intend to play with one striker? Because Rafa did and Mourinho did at Real (Benzema or Higuain). Yet I browse Twitter and see these three things close together:

Sky Sports Football @SkyFootball 3h
Fernando Torres says he has no intention of leaving Chelsea and is looking forward to working under Jose Mourinho.

Sky Sports Football @SkyFootball 1h
Romelu Lukaku will play his football at Chelsea next season after holding productive talks with Jose Mourinho.

Duncan Castles @DuncanCastles 2h
Napoli & AS Monaco want Branislav Ivanovic as Chelsea attempt to sign Edinson Cavani.

they would surely have to off load one of them.....and it wont be lukaku...so thats either torres or ba they would have to sell......torres would be hard to sel as people have already pointed out...not sure about Ba though...would have thought there might be quite a few clubs interested in him
Ba is average at best and Torres is utter garbage. Anyone who thinks either of those would stop them from trying to sign Cavani can dream on.

As for the transfer rumours, Hulk is a winger, Jovetic is a versatile forward/second striker, Schurrle is a winger, Lukaku is a kid.

I'm as gutted as anyone that he seems to be slipping away, but trying to invent a scenario where Chelsea can't sign him based on the 2 useless strikers they already have and a bunch of transfer gossip from the Daily Fail involving players who aren't even center-forwards anyway just to make ourselves feel better is silly. He's exactly what they need and haven't had since Drogba was in his prime years ago.

Same as RVP if he doesn't come to us it's ok but if he signs for Chelsea it is absolutely an unquantifiable disaster of monstrous proportions.

I hope you're not bipolar. The next few weeks could be very horrible for you!!

Im not debating your opinion of their abilities (I agree I wouldnt want either of them) but surely from a financial point of view they would have to offload one of them

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 151 onwards)

This will be a disaster if he goes to Chelsea IMO he is everything we need.mourinho will get him I'm now convinced Chelsea will pay up and probably off load Torres or BA.i thought after last season cavani would be ours and the owners wouldn't let a Rvp happen again well I think this if it goes ahead will have huge consequences.i keep reading all this about Dzeko and guidetti will improve but I'm not convinced and think these need offloading if we're to compete.basicly its coming full circle again if and when mourinho gets his man

He's changed his stance somewhat after reading today's papers.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 151 onwards)

Aguero is a more talented player than either Van Persie or Cavani, but Van Persie and Cavani are more ruthless and clinical finishers. Which is why, on the striker front at least, we're behind if Cavani goes to Chelsea.

Aguero is better partnered with someone than being the one and only IMO. Plus we have so few goal scoring midfielders that even if Aguero recaptures his first season form with us, we need to play two strikers or else there will not be enough goals.

I don't have quite the same faith in Dzeko as others, he blows hot and cold too much and most of his better performances were off the bench. Which is where I'd prefer to keep him if he stays.

If we do miss out on Cavani, maybe there is someone else who we aren't quite sure of who the chiefs will bring in and he'll become a goal machine. Soldado has been hugely clinical in the last few seasons (59 La Liga goals from 260 shots in 3 seasons = a goal every 4.4 shots, one of the best rates in Europe), is Spanish and links up with smaller players, but there are reports Spurs are going to break their transfer record on him.

Latest daily fail report says city are just monitoring the situation but have agreed to pay his 265k per week wages...just a game of cat and mouse peeps..chill out and enjoy the sunshine

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 151 onwards)

Not in the know or anything! But i think Rooney will end up at Chelsea.

Mourinho loves him to bits always has, just would not surprise me.

Hope so then we would hopefully get Cavani!

Think Napoli are trying it on with everyone at the moment and just trying to flog him for as much as they can!

C'mon City!
