If Dzeko can't go to Dortmund now, surely it increases the chances of him going to Napoli?

I wouldn't say this is another Dzeko thread.Merely a few pages of comparing his strengths (if he has any) to Cavanis strengths.

Anyway back on topic. Looks like Cavani may be going nowhere now.

Lewnadowski not going to Bayern is excellent news for our potential bid to sign Cavani.

Considering there were very strong rumours that Napoli were looking to bring Gomez in to replace Cavani should he leave, you would have to say that options looks less likely now as Bayern are more likely to hang on to Gomez for another season given that their preferred option to replace him isn't available til next summer.

Also with Lewandowski staying at Dortmund, the option to return to Germany and join Dortmund is longer available to Dzeko.

Dzeko now either stays at City, or goes to Napoli. Our ITKs seem to suggest he has decided he wants to move on, so its Napoli or bust for Edin.

Strengthens our hand for Cavani considerably if we have their replacement as a bargaining tool in negotiations, I would think.

Interest in Cavani seems to be cooling everywhere now.Reckon ADL may have overplayed his hand.

Not if he wants him to stay -unless a ridiculous sum is paid!
Which frankly has been his position for the last three years.

What I cant understand is fans wanting to change our playing style to suit dzeko. Absolute madness!

I do think (and hope) our playing style DOES change next season from last. Hopefully our midfield will be faster and slicker and our frontline more clinical when chances present themselves, whether this would suit Dzeko is up for debate. I think the speculation is whether Cavani is an upgrade on Dzeko for our team. I think Dzeko isn't well suited to the Premier league, he is undoubtedly a good striker and his record speaks for itself, but I would hope the power and pace of Cavani would bring a greater return if we signed him.

The only other debate is whether the upgrade on Dzeko for Cavani is worth 50 million quid,......I personally think someone like Jackson Martinez could produce the goods for us for a lower price and lower wages, which might mean we could try to sign Bale, or maybe bring in Thiago as well as a striker. This for me would be a better deal, and pay dividends with FFP and for resale value in the future.

A dead deal for Chelsea as well. Napoli have no intention in selling him and they have money as well.
