Diego Costa being linked here...

Not the prettiest player to watch and really obnoxious at times (13 yellows, 1 red last season) but might be decent foil for Aguero who he played with a little at Atletico (but Costa was mostly backup or injured then). Not a prolific goal scorer but very physical and would probably score about 15 league goals for City. Hardly an ideal signing but Pellegrini goes on about the different pieces of the orchestra and his physical presence is something none of our strikers have.

Is he better than Dzeko? nope.

But arguably a more suited strike partner for Aguero who our team seems like it may be built around. He'd do a lot of the dirty work in and around the box.

Bummer to miss out on him, but fair play to Madrid and good luck to Cavani. It's nice being linked with players Madrid are linked with.

Get Isco in and all is good. They beat us to one, we beat them to one too.
I think you do City down a bit there. I fully expect us to go further than Madrid in the CL this year.
Wow, some confidence right there.

Is that down to new signings or us parting ways with Europe inept Mancini?

People went apeshit about Pepe coming here because he's an arsehole... I think Costa is worse.

Constantly rolling round play acting, a talent for sure, but 100% prime arsehole.

I even got to see it live, i watched Seville vs Athleti a few months ago. He was brought off before he got himself sent off... then spent 5 mins on the sidelines giving the fans shit, pantomime clown.

It felt like Balotelli without the same talent.

Thing is though, Costa works really hard for the team. It isn't pretty and yes, he has a really bad temperament, but he contributes a lot to the team (not just a decent amount of goals and assists, but hard work that allows other players to shine) and when I saw this link I was immediately reminded of Pellegrini's famous quote: "It's no good having an orchestra with the 10 best guitarists if I don't have a pianist." The Dzeko/Aguero partnership has never looked 'in tune' to me, so while Costa might not score 30 goals, he might help give Aguero the platform to score 30 goals. He's far from a player I'd be overjoyed to see in a City shirt but I can actually see the logic. PL defenders would hate him, he's very physical and can hold on to the ball.

I'd rather get Benteke than Costa.

Costa is a good player but nowhere near world class, i'd feel underwhelmed and then some if we went from CavanI to Costa.

Carrol is getable for the same price, English, set piece threat and would be a great alternative. Not exactly top level but more shrewd a purchase then Costa.

Demaio, we have to have a look at him, criminal if we don't.

I understand why we need to sell tevez now (though we could extend his contract if he is willing which i would be happy with as he still has so much to offer in his all around play)

What i was saying was though if we do sell tevez now, we need to replace him with someone...we cannot go into a season with just kun and dzeko and expect to get anywhere near top 2

Not so sure Simon.

The thought of signing Isco gives me a warm glow inside.

I see him as the replacement for Tevez.

If we could upgrade Dzeko with Cavani then we can go very far

you are talking about replacing a very experienced world class player (tevez) with an inexperienced, never played in the premier league, player (isco) .......that is a big risk and a lot of responsibility

with cavani i would agree with you we would do well...without replacing tevez then no ( i dont see isco as a replacement for tevez)

What is stuck at the back of my mind is the owners wish to appear to copy the Spanish 4-3-3 (I say Spanish with their apparent under reliance on a traditional pair of 2 up top).

Not wanting to temp the tranfer Gods but

Having studied Isco for the last couple of weeks I have to say this lad must be given licence to roam free. He has popped up everywhere from full back to centre forward and everywhere in between.
I do not see him as a winger at all.
He can play wide left of the 3 but a by-line man he is not.

What he is is an attacking free spirit who's greatest strength his is ability to adapt to any given circumstance as required.

I believe Isco could be our superhero , the best of the lot and we should build our team around him.

This is not a 1 man show by any means.

Watching Spain at any level is a shear joy and as Mendiette said yesterday the way thay all fit into the team system is what sets them apart from the rest of European football.

I like to consider myself (as I am sure we all do) to have a good knowledge of how this wonderful game is played but I dont mind admitting when it comes to working out the Spanish system I do not have a clue.
It is so flexible and changes constantly it is almost impossible to spot.
It relies an all sorts of things but above all else the fluidity of the movement is what impresses me the most.
Dortmund and Bayern have both made our team look inept at times and we are a good side.
They play in a not too dissimilar fashion.

Coming to the point
Isco would be the main attacking fulcrum of our team and would easilly replace Tevez.

What a player

Are we really getting that desperate nip.

Aston Villa will take any club who is interested in Benteke to the cleaners.

Cavani hostage Morata: remain in Madrid
Returned to the sender to the proposal of Naples for the sale of the Matador
It was said yesterday the proposal made by the Naples Real to let from Edinson Cavani: Khedira, Morata and money. Well, according to what was said by the same player, Morata will not move from Spain. The new champion of Europe with Roja's Under-21 has in fact revealed that he received a phone call from Florentino Perez after the final won by Italy: "He called me and told me he is very happy with me and I'll stay the Real. "

In short, the basis of the bargain Cavani this was one of the pillars that could keep standing has already come down. The feeling - and here also the discontent of Matador - is that Napoli is losing one after the other all the possible buyers and that, therefore, the position of the tip Uruguayan it is complicating.
In fact, around Europe, PSG and Monaco aside, there is no club willing to pay in cash the buyout clause to 63 million requested by de Laurentiis. On the other hand, however, Cavani made it clear he wanted to go to Madrid, stopping in a decisive manner, in fact, all the other negotiations.

How am I doing City down? Can't knock anyone who chooses them over us, not yet at this stage of our development as they are a far more established name as things stand. Like I said the other day though, it's no longer a case where people look at Madrid and City in a two horse race for a player and snigger, it's no laughing matter anymore, but I'd still never question someone signing for them over us as things stand. Not doing City down at all.
I'm not questioning Cavani if he wants to move there and not here. fair fucks to him. I just meant the "it's nice to be linked with someone Real are linked with" has a ring of little City about it. I fully expect us to be linked with the best now. We are sat upon the top table and managed to get Silva, Aguero, Yaya, Tevez etc. And I fully expect Isco to follow.
