Last summer the club felt the strike force could be upgraded by signing RVP. They failed but the intention was there.

A season of misfiring followed... it wasn't all down to tactics, there were MANY wasted chances.

Summer arrives, Tevez has one foot out the door - so even if Cavani isn't possible, we need at least one name to freshen up our strike force IMO. Even if it's not a huge marquee signing but someone like Soldado, Yilmaz, Jovetic or even a rough diamond like Luis Muriel.

We can add playmakers all day long but Aguero (what if his hamstring goes again?) + Dzeko + injured and untested Guidetti would be a huge gamble going into the most demanding league in the world + three other competitions.

This and only this BUT losing out and not getting a striker like cavani would be a big setback in what the owners and manager will want to achieve over the coming seasons and there are no other strikers out there that would compensate for cavani none that i see available anyway.

only my opinion and i hope city have a very good plan b if we have actually gave up on cavani.

Fully agree

Some people seem to be placing all their hope that dzeko is suddenly going to become a world class player, that guedetti will easily make the step up and that kun can go all through a season playing every game and not get injured.......with luck the third option could happen...the first two wont

True but even if we replaced Dzeko with Cavani the same would apply in terms of cover
