Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

It would seem that Cavani was indeed just a target of Mancini. The fee being touted by Napoli is excessive and could be used to purchase 2 players - Isco and possibly Thiago : )

if we also play with width next season Dzeko should flourish

Sooooo the 55 million euros bid is fake?

loved to see Dzeko stay, if Tevez leaves than Jovetic may come to us.

Fake? How has that been quashed?

I really think Dzeko could come into his element in the new Pelllegrini side. If we dont get Cavani its not the end of the world we still have three cracking strikers. I really hope Tevez stays as well.
Why do you think that? Pellegrini dony play with out and out wingers?
even if he did, like mancini did (rarely) edin still did a bad touch etc... and let himself down. if we played with wingers and kept dzeko he would have to sort his donkey touch out.

I think all this "Edin has a bad touch" stuff is a bit unfair - I have to admit he went off the boil and his confidence/form/touch suffered, possibly all part of the same thing (insufficient game time, not getting on well with Bobby, and I certainly do not think that moaning in the crowd helps) but in his first year and a half with City there was not too much wrong with his touch - in fact early doors when he was struggling to score, his decent first touch was what stood out for me, and those I go to the games with.

Incidentally, and I do not know this, how does Edin's and Edinson's career stats compare for minutes per goal, does anyone know?

Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

For me (as far as strikers go) Ive always prefered those that can grab a game by the scruff of the neck and win it on their own if need be; someone who can create something out of nothing. This is why I rate the likes of tevez and aguero so highly and will always prefer them to someone like Van nistleroy (and I use him as an example as his record was prolific) who needs goals creating for them

I see Edin as the other type of striker in the main (yes there have been one or two moments eg. the spurs game where he has been the main man).

Cavani seems to be the type of striker that will offer that ability with the added bonus of some physical presence/height, directness and pace

Therefore I would definitely like to see Cavani here. I think he offers us more than Edin.

Those saying that Edin will flourush under new management I fear maybe grasping at straws but I also think they will get their wish as I still dont see cavani coming here

I agree. If the team was underperforming, you'd see Tevez think, right, i'll sort this out, and come looking for the ball, creating his own space & chances and chasing everything down. Edin just doesn't do this. Seems more of the attitude, well if you're not giving me chances, what am i supposed to do??

If Cavani is the same as Tevez, then happy days!

Hopefully Edin will come good with a different style of play... more than happy if he does.

Dzeko has a donkey touch only when he can't see the goal. When his first touch is a shot or setting up a shot, it is probably not for off Cavani.

Not sure what his thoughts are but I do know that last thing I would think about is to do any kind of "favour" to lot, if not most of City fans. They deserve fuck all let alone a "favour" from him. Rag-alike characters after few years only on top, scary to think what will it look alike in decade or two.

To be honest I'm not sure I would want to move to Naples (particularly if you were expected to take the place of Cavani) as it's a shit hole and no one in their right mind today would expect Dzeko to do us a "favour". Personally I don't see Dzeko suddenly turning into a brilliant player just because we've bought a couple of wide players - I also think it's easy to blame Mancini/style of play for his failings. Anyway I'll save this this for our Dzeko thread (how many pages now?).

I wouldn't blame Mancini for Dzeko's failings, but the Mancini style certainly exposes them.

I would agree with that - our narrow style of passing football didn't do him any favours. Problem I have is with his attitude and temperament - particularly when a game isn't going his way. I still find it difficult to put that Spurs away game (this season) out of my head and how angry I felt at his complete lack of commitment. I agree with the posts on here -I don't think we will get Cavani (particulary with some of the things his Dad has been saying about Real - or is that trying to pushing the price up??) and if Dzeko gets another chance I hope he proves a lot of the doubters like myself wrong.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

TBH, Kun was a lot worse than Dzeko last season, don't know why nobody discuss about his terrible form but trying so hard to find every little mistakes from Dzeko only though.

Aguero got injuries at terrible points, as far as I'm concerned last season was a complete write-off for him, Dzeko on the other hand had the first touch of a rapist.
