Whatever the merits of Dzeko as a player, he MUST be sold this summer.

We are in a similar situation to Mario, soon in to the final two years of his contract and very dangerous territory.

Dzeko is a depreciating asset for us, even if he stays and scores 40 goals next season.

All that would do is increase his own bargaining position with other clubs, as his fee would be even more reduced with 12 months remaining.

Mario had no intention of signing a new deal, Dzeko, likewise.

I will always be thankful for his goals at crucial times and would wish him well wherever he ends up, but if we can get £20m, we will have done brilliant business.

But nobody want to Dzeko. Dortmund not need, Juventus not need...and so who ?

I thought you felt we should keep Dzeko? Not having a go at you. Just wondering if you've changed your mind from a couple weeks back.

Will it he Dortmund or Juventus where he ends up? If Dortmund keep Lewandowski we are stuck really. I hoped he'd go to Naples but if he's put the halt to that we are further stuck.

Not a clue how this will end up.

Don't be surprised if AC or Arsenal follow-up previous interest.

If he scored 40 goals why the hell would we want to get rid of him??????

Don't recall having that stance, as don't think Dzeko has ever been right for us?

I did say the other week I would rather bin the Cavani interest and sign both Isco and Thiago, swapping Dzeko for Lewandowski in the process.

Dzeko's price will drop £10m in the next 12 months, regardless of how many goals he scored for us.

Sure, we could offer him a new deal, but we would have to make him one of the highest earners at the club.

With the cream of Europe scenting another cut-price deal and being able to offer him commensurate wages as a result.

-- Tue Jun 18, 2013 11:49 am --

We wouldn't have a say in it. He would have 12 months left on his contract and can take his pick.

Surprisingly I'd expect both of the team's you mentioned direct rivals to be more likely. Inter registered interest in Jan and Spurs are desperate for a striker.

Ac Milan I can see but Arsenal will get Higuain most likely and them they need a CB and Holding mid.

I just hope Bayern manage to get Lewandowski (he's not world class and it helps slow them down and also bvb need a striker) then Bvb come cap in hand for Dzeko.

I'd have thought Napoli would be perfect move for him, can't believe he's not interested.

An, thanks for clarifying! That does sound familiar.

Tolm I know your not a fan of his but you don't seem to be thinking this through. If we have a 40 goal a season striker on our hands with 12 month to go on his contract whats to stop us matching or bettering any offer he receives to keep him and extend his contract?

People seem to be assuming Dzeko can be dictated to. He can choose his own destiny.

He's not deliberately trying to sabotage City's own plans. He has his own ideas and dreams of where he would like to play, and quite rightly.

Why anyone would think Naples is an attractive proposition I don't know.

I laughed when I saw Torres floated as a supposed makeweight in the Cavani deal. That will be family man Torres with two babies in tow, going to a city like Naples?

Arsenal and Wenger are massive fans of Dzeko, having twice asked for him on loan in the last 12 months.

They have money to spend and London is definitely a place Edin would be open to.

As for Italy, this guy bleeds AC Milan. If they were to miss out on Tevez, to Juventus, then it is a viable option.

Especially so, when the likes of El Shaarawy have been linked with moves away, including to us.
