Speaking to the press before the Italian league meeting, De Laurentiis said: "There is no need to have a face to face with Cavani.

"If a club offers €63million then we would allow him to leave. The release clause will have been activated.

"It's not fair that Cavani has distractions while he is playing in an important tournament like the Confederations Cup.

"Should we receive an offer, then fine. If this offer doesn't arrive then Cavani will stay in Italy with us."

De Laurentiis did confirm, though, that the only side he had discussed Cavani with was Manchester City.

He added: "The only meeting I've had has been with Manchester City, but the offer was inadequate."

Tancredi Palmeri said Cavani was off to Chelsea. Surely he can't be KFA, can he?

he's not saying that as far as i saw from his tweet.

but if we have fresh cash from tevez, the deal could be happening between us and napoli

But I don't think we should pay 53m for him. It's too much.

Whilst I agree that £53m is a lot of money:

- It's not our money and if the club want to pay that amount it is up to them.
- It would be money well spent if we won the league and progressed in the CL and could pay for itself
- With amortisation it is £10.6m per year (on a 5 year contract). Would you be happy with £40m? That's only £2m less per year in the accounts.
- Wages are covered with Tevez now off the books

He could be the final piece in the jigsaw for us so lets just go for it. When he is banging them in it won't matter how much he cost.

Yes it is a a lot of money, but at the end of the day you get what you pay & Cavani is the best, so we will have to cough up if thats the going rate and we want him.

Interesting and totally contradicts his previous comments that Madrid were the only ones to make a firm offer. Are we being played?

I reckon he will go to PSG. No one else will pay it, and plenty of sources confirming we aren't in for him now. Utd wont pay it, Chelsea won't

It all comes down to how badly Cavani wants to leave Napoli, if he is happy then for sure nobody has a chance at getting De Laurentiis to lower the price, if he publicly comes out and demands to leave, Napoli have no choice but to lower it.

This is another saga I really cannot be bothered with anymore, hopefully it will be sorted it the next few weeks.

Thats what needs to happen IMO. ADL apparently has told him no need for a face to face either as requested by Cavani.

No ones paying the release clause and I keep getting the feeling that its gonna come down to whether or not cavani pushes hard for a transfer. He can go on and on about that fucking clause but no one in their right mind is paying it
