Exactly. When you're dealing in these amounts of money far more than the players talent has to be taken into account. Is Cavani a marketing dream? No. If there was anyone in our team you'd want on the boxes of games, posters etc wearing our shirt it's Aguero every single time. Interesting parallels with the tactics too, building around Aguero on the pitch or him playing second fiddle to Cavani. Aguero should be top of the list on both counts IMO.

That said, I don't actually fancy the marketability of Bale either. Not in the same stakes as Ronaldo or better yet Neymar (though it will be interesting to see how the latter is sold to the masses, and how it links with Messi - Barca shirt, Brazil shirt? etc). I don't think the world at large has much of an interest in a boy from the valleys with fucking massive ears, most of the exposure comes from our own island I think. And at least even with Rooney you can tie him to England on the world stage, which carries a little more clout than Wales. The statement of intent in purchasing him with associated price tag could be more than enough of a catalyst though.

Have to look at where the money is these days. The biggest untapped football market in the world is the United States. Bale would have a huge appeal here assuming his performance levels continue to go in the right direction.

Yeah quite possibly. Will that take off quickly enough for us to reap the rewards from Bale though?

Either way, Bale or Ronaldo is where our transfer kitty should be going now. I'd be surprised if we didnt have some sort of offer in the works. Doubt either will come off mind!

John Macbeath, Non-Executive Director

John Macbeath is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a wealth of international business experience. His early career was spent in the oil and gas industry undertaking a variety of roles both within BP and Statoil. More recently, John has worked in the aerospace and defence sector carrying out a number of senior business development roles with BAE Systems. John was the interim CEO at MCFC between Garry Cook's departure and Ferran Soriano's appointment.

For the record, he's now working closely with Txixi, this could be valid info IMO.

Assume you mean Bale and Ronaldo, and to be honest either of these and we win the PL. Cavani we probably win it. that is the difference.

The question is do either of these players want to come to City? Ronaldo probably not. Bale I have no idea. Does he want to play abroad?

Bale due to age would be more expensive. Ronaldo more marketable.

What about Messi? Does he want to be Neymar's understudy?

Yep those are the two. Yeah I don't see Ronaldo coming here but I really don't see why he would go to play with Moyes when he can play with Pellegrini (one of his favorite managers). I would think if Real sells and we want him we should be just as much a player as United.

Bale I think could be just as marketable in a few years if he continues his form. He would be especially marketable in the States (which the board certainly seem to see--wisely--as where the real money to be made is in the next 20 years.

Messi will kick Neymar to the curb as soon as he eats into his goal totals just like he did to Ibra.

City have lost interest in Cavani and won't be black mailed, by any club into paying inflated fees anymore. It's common knowledge around the club, that Cheeky and John ( Mcbeath ) have been working on the finances, of a major coup concerning one player. Nobody but the powers that be, know who this player is. What we do know, it's not Rooney Cavani or Lewandowski

One member of the staff was given a major hint, when he was told the players clubs home kit is White.

Real Madrid. Di Maria or Benzema

Neither are major coups....or even minor coups.

Both would be major coups and would walk into our team.

PSG had 43 million bid turned down. Napoli saying 63 million not a penny less (sky sports news)

Personally I think so. There are two big populations of football fans here...Hispanic immigrants and basically wealthy suburban families. That second group is growing like wildfire. Three years ago, I could not have 30 friends over to my house to watch a City game (or any Premier league game). Last season I did it 3-4 times.

-- Tue Jul 02, 2013 2:02 pm --

Not really. Di Maria would fight for starts with Nasri, Silva, and Navas. Depending on if we play one up top or two...Benzema certainly wouldn't put Aguero on the bench. Great players yes...but not major coups. Major coups are game changers.

Robinho was a major coup for City. Tevez was a major coup for City. That is probably it.
