City have lost interest in Cavani and won't be black mailed, by any club into paying inflated fees anymore. It's common knowledge around the club, that Cheeky and John ( Mcbeath ) have been working on the finances, of a major coup concerning one player. Nobody but the powers that be, know who this player is. What we do know, it's not Rooney Cavani or Lewandowski

One member of the staff was given a major hint, when he was told the players clubs home kit is White.
didnt john mc beath leave when the new c e o came ?

John Macbeath, Non-Executive Director

John Macbeath is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a wealth of international business experience. His early career was spent in the oil and gas industry undertaking a variety of roles both within BP and Statoil. More recently, John has worked in the aerospace and defence sector carrying out a number of senior business development roles with BAE Systems. John was the interim CEO at MCFC between Garry Cook's departure and Ferran Soriano's appointment.

So then he knows how to operate under the table.

Just a thought...but maybe we are not throwing money at Cavani because we have bigger fish to fry ;-)

IF the Barca boys are using the same playbook from when they were at Barca they need one big big name this summer. I don't even think Cavani qualifies. They need a name that can be marketed as one of the world's best. They lost out on Beckham but got their man in Ronaldinho last time.

If we are going to really splash the cash (spend 50 + on a single player) I think it will be that kind of player. Only two out there as far as I am concerned (they both play in white).

Exactly. When you're dealing in these amounts of money far more than the players talent has to be taken into account. Is Cavani a marketing dream? No. If there was anyone in our team you'd want on the boxes of games, posters etc wearing our shirt it's Aguero every single time. Interesting parallels with the tactics too, building around Aguero on the pitch or him playing second fiddle to Cavani. Aguero should be top of the list on both counts IMO.

That said, I don't actually fancy the marketability of Bale either. Not in the same stakes as Ronaldo or better yet Neymar (though it will be interesting to see how the latter is sold to the masses, and how it links with Messi - Barca shirt, Brazil shirt? etc). I don't think the world at large has much of an interest in a boy from the valleys with fucking massive ears, most of the exposure comes from our own island I think. And at least even with Rooney you can tie him to England on the world stage, which carries a little more clout than Wales. The statement of intent in purchasing him with associated price tag could be more than enough of a catalyst though.

Is Santos' home kit sometimes all white? Could have been Neymar since we were in discussions with his people

Assume you mean Bale and Ronaldo, and to be honest either of these and we win the PL. Cavani we probably win it. that is the difference.

The question is do either of these players want to come to City? Ronaldo probably not. Bale I have no idea. Does he want to play abroad?

Bale due to age would be more expensive. Ronaldo more marketable.

What about Messi? Does he want to be Neymar's understudy?

Yep those are the two. Yeah I don't see Ronaldo coming here but I really don't see why he would go to play with Moyes when he can play with Pellegrini (one of his favorite managers). I would think if Real sells and we want him we should be just as much a player as United.

Bale I think could be just as marketable in a few years if he continues his form. He would be especially marketable in the States (which the board certainly seem to see--wisely--as where the real money to be made is in the next 20 years.

Messi will kick Neymar to the curb as soon as he eats into his goal totals just like he did to Ibra.

-- Tue Jul 02, 2013 1:29 pm --

Neither are major coups....or even minor coups.

Have to look at where the money is these days. The biggest untapped football market in the world is the United States. Bale would have a huge appeal here assuming his performance levels continue to go in the right direction.
