I'd be thrilled if we got him, however the price tag really concerns me so I really hope we manage to lower it..

I cannot see us paying 50-55m for a player to be honest.

I think around 40-45 will be enough to make Napoli accept, but even then that's a lot of money and I just hope the scouting system, Mancini and Begirstain have confidence that he is the man to take us to another level.

To think the scum got RVP for just over 20m!!

Could easily be him pulling together other media reports but Brennan is a legit guy and pretty much confirmed what we know: we've agreed to terns with cavani he prefers us and its just down to figuring out a fee which we all assumed. If we wanted cavani deal done yesterday we would just pay his release clause but obviously cause we're not schmucks we're trying to negotiate them out of it which worries me that this could be drawn out for a while if they're trying to get the most out of us

sounds about right... Brennan is pretty decent when it comes to City news and the majority of news seems to be indicating that only the fee agreement remains.

I think Txiki and Soriano don't want to trigger the buyout because as cmdub said above, Cavani probably has been persuaded and prefers to come to City now. With that in mind, Txiki may want to try an negotiate a better price in order to use more funds to acquire the other grade A players he wants for other positions...

One thing is looking certain, I don't think Real are getting closer (they may have even conceded) and PSG has been nothing but hype (like we are connected to every player with a high price tag)... So, it's a matter of City and Napoli (who are notorious hardball negotiators) to agree the fee...

I think it will be agreed within the first 2-3 weeks of the window opening as City look to have done all the ground work on this Cavani deal.

A 26-year-old Van Persie with a 4/5-year contract in last season's form and injury-free state (remember his constant injuries have just mysteriously disappeared in the last couple of years) would have gone for £45million+.

Cavani is arguably more consistent in the goal-scoring department (although RVP's is a bit better rounded player), much younger (26 where as RVP will be 30 this August) and doesn't have a bad history with injuries like RVP.

I find it difficult to believe Napoli will allow a "smooth transfer" for their most prized asset given their past history.
However following our disappointing transfer window last summer I would hope we have learnt lessons.

He probably will be with Uruguay at the Confederations Cup so hopefully the deal can be done before that. Another thing that worries me also is, who will Madrid target as a new striker? Although the question still remains if they will buy a new one, as in my opinion Benzema and Higuain are both amazing strikers when on their game as we saw last season.

They're just hardballers and I would not want anyone better to negotiate with them than our Ferran & Txixi ... these guys are pro's, they've seen it all and been through and with the experience and exposure of international footballers, their agents and other clubs who they have negotiated with in the past... we should be confident it'll get done.

Napoli and their fans have 100% conceded in losing Cavani, its a matter of for how much?... And people forget Cavani signed this contract with a huge buyout clause for 1 reason and that is to Napoli as big a deal as possible when he leaves as he probably does love Napoli and wants to give them something for the support they've shown him...

I think about £42-47M

Some new reports that we have offered Micah to Napoli to bring down the price for Cavani...
