Talksport have reported that Napoli are bracing themselves for `last gasp interest` from Manchester City. His agent has played it down though, it is apparently in the Italian media. Might be bollocks, but just noticed this on the BBC and Talksport sites.

Talkshite are only picking up on whats in todays papers.

Cavani is well en route to becoming the best old fashioned centre-forward in the world but it'd be a miracle if a deal was done for him in January with Napoli being in the Champions League and also having De Laurentiis as the owner meaning lots of negotiating and politics in signing a Napoli player. Has a summer transfer written all over it although I think it could be Chelsea where he ends up as they have more pressing need for a CF and may be willing to splash out £40million on him. He would fit us better than Dzeko I think but we can't just keep chopping and changing with such expensive signings.

De Laurentiis would be far too stubborn. Can't see them accepting anything under £45m.

He's worth about £35m but he's the spearhead of their Neopolitan revolution and a massive fan favourite, they won't find anyone like him for a long long time.

we'll only go after Cavani if Dzeko or Balotelli leave. Lavezzi would be the most realistic as he is more versatile.

Cannot see it happening, we would pay way over the odds because its January as well plus who is to say Napoli wont go on a good CL run like Shalke last year.

I agree with the previous post as well, Dzeko will have to go, you cannot have 2 out and out CF in a side and its looking likely Tevez will be joining us soon and i put my money on it the owners will want him to play!

Never in a billion years.

Dont want Cavanni.

The floor is yours........

Beat me to it, expect a nice detailed explanation of why he's not the striker for us.....

It'll be an interesting read cos he's exactly what we need IMO. I wait to be put right with baited breath.......................

swap deal with tevez,we get rid of the numb twat and his dick of an advisor,he`s out the club and we get a striker who`s different to what we already have, yes he is cup tied but we can rotate nicely..

what is cavani worth £35M? we want £25M for twatface,he`s an hour nearer argentina and he`s got his wish of being out of our club,it`s a win/win situation surely??

Like it. Fees won't be a problem but could Napoli pay Herman daylight robbery per week ?

2 reasons why I don't want Cavani.
1.) We would have to get rid of one of our strikers. We simply can't have 4 top end strikers. Perhaps Dzeko will have to go. But that can only happen in the summer. But this is just procedural, but my real objection is #2

2.) I don't think he will be as good in a slow deliberate passing team, which is kinda what we are. He looks fantastic on a counterattacking/crossing team like Napoli. With us there would be significantly less counterattacking, and even lesser crossing. Don't get me wrong, I think he is the closest thing to Eto'o I have ever seen style wise, and I think Eto'o is the best striker of this generation. So it is not as if I think Cavani is trash. But he simply isn't the best fit for a club like ours and how we operate. We need a different type of striker. For City, I'd rather get a striker like Soldado from Valencia, or Van Persie from Arsenal over Cavani. The former 2 fit our style of play, Cavani doesn't.

But that is just Dax's opinion. :)
