Cavani

It'll be an interesting read cos he's exactly what we need IMO. I wait to be put right with baited breath.......................

2 reasons why I don't want Cavani.
1.) We would have to get rid of one of our strikers. We simply can't have 4 top end strikers. Perhaps Dzeko will have to go. But that can only happen in the summer. But this is just procedural, but my real objection is #2

2.) I don't think he will be as good in a slow deliberate passing team, which is kinda what we are. He looks fantastic on a counterattacking/crossing team like Napoli. With us there would be significantly less counterattacking, and even lesser crossing. Don't get me wrong, I think he is the closest thing to Eto'o I have ever seen style wise, and I think Eto'o is the best striker of this generation. So it is not as if I think Cavani is trash. But he simply isn't the best fit for a club like ours and how we operate. We need a different type of striker. For City, I'd rather get a striker like Soldado from Valencia, or Van Persie from Arsenal over Cavani. The former 2 fit our style of play, Cavani doesn't.

But that is just Dax's opinion. :)
so out of tevez, dzecko, aguero and mario, just who exactly would you offload...??
hmmm it`s a tricky one i grant you...

spat my rancid sticky toffee pudding onto the cat

Been a lot of media speculation since last summer about Cavani & City. Highly unlikely to produce anything this window. If we offload Tevez for a decent fee, I think we'll bid for Cavani in the summer. I hope so anyway.

Cavani would cost stupid money plus some, no doubt about it. And even though he obviously is a great striker I'm not sure his style of play would suit ours that well.
Our attack looks pretty much like a game of handball; with pass after pass in front of a wall of opponents looking for the opener. Is Cavani the man to stand in the midst of that for us?

cavani in, tevez out. yes please.

we'd have a striker or striking partnership for every opponent.

Offer tevez and £20m for cavani? Carlos is never gonna play got us again is he? Might as use him as bait to get cavani?

De Laurentiis would be far too stubborn. Can't see them accepting anything under £45m.

He's worth about £35m but he's the spearhead of their Neopolitan revolution and a massive fan favourite, they won't find anyone like him for a long long time.

Then give them £45m! (an offer they cannot refuse). He's brilliant.............

-- Sun Jan 29, 2012 10:22 am --

You build teams around players like Cavani - if we dont snap him up he's guaranteed to go to Barca or Madrid.....................cant afford to miss this if we have designs on CL success. And same goes for Bale too. Hell, we can afford it!
We currently have only six first team players capable of challenging for the CL (hart, richards, kompany, silva, aguerro and yaya). Depends how quickly we want to get there really.

Its all gone a bit quiet on the Bale front - frankly, he was head and shoulders above everyone else from either side when they came to our place - the kid has everything........................

-- Sun Jan 29, 2012 11:59 am --

Its not the 'tick' we're lacking................its the 'tock' bit - i.e. sticking it in the onion bag!

cavani last minute bid??

we are short up front,if sergio gets injured we are in the shit,we need that class forward on the final push, doubt he would come because napoli are still in the champions league, but i would test there resolve with one tasty bid come tuesday.if not edinson, then who? mario could make us ,but then he could break us.

why use liverpool as a yard stick? we're challenging for the Prem League - whereas they, are not.................................fact is, we're not scoring enough goals, however you want to dress that up, its fact.

-- Sun Jan 29, 2012 2:07 pm --

Cavani's going nowhere with Napoli in the last sixteen of the Champions League.

Not sure even £50m cash would get him.

That aside, the days of City spending silly money on players is long gone.

Not scoring enough ?? 3 goals a game ..not enough ??.. ffs I really do fucking despair on here sometimes..

played 22 scored scored 60...you do the maths.

We have won 17 games this season and are top of the table by 3 points, we have lost 2 and drawn 3 ..

we could have scored 3 more goals in every game we have won so far and we would still be top 3 points clear...Nowt would change.. Its all the goals we have scored that have us at the top..
