Celtic game - strict security measures announced (page 34)

Imagine them or anyone else coming in the kippax or north stand back in the day it just wouldn't happen they would of got absolutely mullered fuck this I don't mind them in our end etc they shouldn't be there end of let them fuck off back up to Scotland and take there shit IRA songs with them.

Most Scots don't want their shite IRA songs either.

Been singing them long enough though and from what I heared in manchester before the game seemed most were joining in with them

It's only a small section of a football club in one Scottish city. There's more people in Glasgow that don't regularly attend football games than do and the majority of Glaswegians probably won't want anything to do with the IRA.

I know you weren't generalising all of Scotland though mate.

I see GMP have tweeted "time to go home" as Celtic fans are still causing mither in the city centre at 11am this morning
That'll sort them out.

Re fans in the ground I was sat 3 rows in front of the CSKA fans in I think 115 when there was a ban in them being there.

Stewards and Cops a waste of time and that was with only about 15 away fans.

Pisses me off that I run the risk of getting a ban for being passionate at a normal game....one rule for us one for them, whatever people's views on away fans in home areas the club has a responsibility to treat everyone equally and fairly under their rules & regs. That patently doesn't happen.

Hang your heads men in suits.

No, he was talking about the scum bag Celtic fans that do attend games and do sing the pro IRA songs.

Can't think why you're introducing the non football attending Glaswegians into this discussion on this thread on this website.

In 109 soon after kick off there was some trouble down at the front. I'm near the back so couldn't see what was happening but soon after a steward walked past escorting a Celtic fan. Then to our amazement about 25 more were led out who all must have been in a group. They were taken into the away fans area from what we could see. Then when they lit their phones, I couldn't believe how many there were. You expect a few but there were Celtic fans in just about every part of the ground.

Ferran Soriano & Danny Wilson should be sacked for what happened last night. It was utterly inept but, more importantly, potentially put our fans in danger. For once, I'm completely on UEFA's side on this.

I know a lady who will not go to our home games in this competition after being caught up in a melee involving city fans and away supporters who had been allocated tickets slap bang in the middle of 105. This at previous champions league games. She wrote into to the club to complain And did not even get a response.

Fast forward to last night, in exactly the same block, you have exactly the same situation. It is indefensible and The club cannot say they do not know about this problem.

I would like to ask the club what exactly the role of the steward is in maintaining supporters safety/what the stewards are being briefed about before games like this. Is sitting there hands in pockets allowing away fans to stand up in the home end, arms out, bellowing out songs acceptable? According to our stewards, it is.

Missed getting my Burnley ticket so I went online, using a Manchester postcode, registered as a 'Claret' and watched the game from the Burnley end.

Here's an email I received from Burnley, reminding me of their policy re away fans in the home end.

Dear Football Supporters,
Thank you for registering as a ‘Claret’ with Burnley Football Club and thank you for purchasing tickets for the forthcoming fixture against Manchester City.
You have bought your tickets in areas where dedicated Burnley fans are situated. Please be mindful of that if you are a ‘neutral supporter’.
Please be aware that if your allegiance is towards Manchester City, our policy is to remove from the ground any ‘visiting team’ supporter who is wearing the visiting team colours or openly demonstrates their support of the opposition.
The visiting team ticket allocation is sold out so there will be no transfers into the area of the visiting supporters.
We look forward to seeing you at the fixtures throughout the rest of the season and trust you have an enjoyable time at Turf Moor.

All very sensible and I'm sure it's City's policy too.

Despite wanting to rip their fucking heads off when they were abusing Sterling, I kept my mouth shut and behaved impeccably; nobody around me would have known I was an away supporter.

That's the way it should be.

Anyone trying to excuse the behaviour of the Celtic fans last night is trying to defend the indefensible.

I did exactly the same, received same e-mail, behaved myself like the impeccable fans we are. The lad next to me turns to me after their goal and says "You're here with City aren't you". I owned up and spent the rest of the game chatting with him and his family, no problem, shook hands at the end.

Small section = 90% of them and their support is in every town/City in scotland , not just one...250,000 Rangers fans invade Manchester ...39 arrests..... 4,000 Septic fans... 40 arrests and counting.......You do the math(s).

Whether they paid big money or whether they were there on a corporate freebee they should still have to behave.

When they scored there wasn't a steward in sight.

When I eventually did speak to one (about 15 minutes later) he was unable to help because the policy is that he can't touch the friends of UEFA.

There needs to be a proper police presence in 105 if these UEFA arseholes are to be allowed to behave in a way the average fan cannot.

which stewards are expected to get involved, if it is the ones who show people to their seats then i think that is a very big ask, many of them are either old, female, or probably students earning a few quid, near us, the young steward was getting berated by irate City fans for not moving the celtic fans out, i think for 7.20 an hour, people are expecting a bit too much, if i was him, i would have said here's your flourescent jacket, i'm off home, i don't need this shit.
