Celtic game - strict security measures announced (page 34)

If the rule applies with Celtic then should it apply with United? I don't want them sat around me for 90 minutes and neither would any Blue I know. There was fighting in many blocks last night. Didn't we leave this behind decades ago?

I've slept on it and I'm still angry.

Lets sack Danny Wilson!! For god sake - when I have dealt with the man he has been an absolute gent. We have some absolute wankers as fans. If he had restricted tickets to one per fan he would have been criticised. Of course loads were going to be in corporate and it meant more to them than us.

Sat in home ends many times including Blackburn in my city top.

Disappointing to see the number of away fans in the home end, but nothing new from them. They managed it at Liverpool a few years ago and at United. Doesn't help that so many blues swerve these games but for a dead rubber game it was always gonna happen - as was them having fans in our end. The irony is some blues from Scotland actually had their tickets refunded because of their address in Scotland. Madness.

Plus there were City fans all over the Nou Camp for the first CL game against Barcelona. We don't seem to have an issue with it when we're the ones doing it.

The City fans behaved exactly like the Celtic fans did last night? They deliberately goaded and provoked home fans? They engaged in sectarian chanting (or some kind of equivalent?) Can we buy you a ticket to do this at Chelsea away?

I can only speak for myself but I'd rather not go if I couldn't sit with my own. City promised measures to prevent last night happening and they failed.

Everyone knows the rules when sitting in the wrong end.
Keep your mouth shut and respect the home fans.
To be singing, abusing and belittling is disrespectful and potentially very dangerous.

I witnessed all this in the family stand and it was quite unpleasant.
However, it took me back to derby days of yesteryear and reminded me of the mad days with the violence and watching the crowd instead of the shit football.
Wrongly, I enjoyed it and made me glad I was retired from trouble.

However, the sweaties near me were dicks and were lucky that the family stand is not a place retribution.

Typical Scots with beer, just like the rangers tossers.

But were you deliberately goading and provoking home fans? Did you punch someone who took exception to your behaviour? Celtic have a deplorable following.

Official attendance from the BBC is 51,297 which for a CL game is pretty much a full house.
Maybe the security measures stopped some City fans going who had tickets but were worried about potential trouble.
Anyway, it seems that we're as bad as the rags at declaring tickets sold as opposed to actual attendance!

Coke, Coffee, Lighters, Saliva, and even chips.
Just a small selection of what we were covered with or had thrown at us in 114 last night.

Don't have a problem with the odd away fan in our end providing they're respectful and haven't deprived home fans of tickets. I think it was completely needless for this game though as Celtic should've just been granted more tickets. No doubt some people would've moaned about doing our opponents a favour but a situation where we know for sure we're not going to sell our tickets out and that the away fans are desperate for them calls for a bit of pragmatism.

forgot to mention.

it was funny when one sweaty shit himself when a female City fan turned on him.

She was sat directly in front of this clown who had been taking the piss all game.

When our goal was disallowed she turned around and went berserk. He died on the spot and never moved for rest of game.

Manchester women v Scottish man.

no contest. worth the admission alone.
Brilliant.

Blackburn away promotion game , thousands of City in every stand.

Becoming a bit precious these days isn't it.
I've no problem with the concept of fans mingling. We should be able to make it work. But sadly there are a minority of idiots who make that difficult plus last night there was (in theory) one of the most stringent security operations we've ever seen. And that was following an operation to supposedly weed out Celtic fans who'd bought tickets in home areas.

Why didn't we simply give them the whole of SS3?

There are more people moaning about "mock outrage" than mock outragers now. Only on Bluemoan.

Take the piss too much and you risk getting a slap. Celtic fans are mainly a good bunch and the only ones at risk were those who wouldn't stop goading Blues in the home end. All the decent Celtic fans were made to feel welcome but there were some rags amongst them stirring things up. I spoke to some outside the ground.

I enjoyed last night and the trip to Glasgow. Shame we can't fill all our own seats for these Champ League games but that will probably happen over time.

Spot on PB. Both clubs could easily have given 6k allocations to the away followings in Glasgow and Manchester. Celtic give Rangers 6,500 tickets for the Auld Firm games so it's manageable.

At least having them in our end made the stadium look full on a CL night for once and pumped up the atmosphere.

I don't think there's a problem with other fans in our ends, as long as they don't take the piss. I went with my gf and her dad who's are Celtic fans and no one was any the wiser The real disappointment is that City refunded Scottish City fans tickets yet allowed plenty of Celtic fans in. Why didn't they just give them a bigger allocation?

I also heard security they were taking flags off people, any truth in that?

Totally agree mate, we won't be as lucky next time, what's the answer though? You can't stop people passing on tickets who have a Manchester postcode, money makers don't give a shit about consequences unfortunately.

What happened up in 314/315 though is nothing short of a disgrace as that wasn't M postcodes selling to Celtic fans , they all gathered on mass towards there own fans to stand together , no doubt occupying City fans seats, that could have been carnage up there and thankfully the cameras didn't pan up there, the stewards in the end let them occupy the area next to there own with a cordon behind them.

The few behind me in 322 were okay on the whole ,one middle aged Celtic fan got pushed down the stairs and took a couple of punches and was ushered out.

Some of the rum buggers were told to leave about the 86 minute mark and took exception , pointing at city fans he said " why are they allowed to stay too the end and not us"!

They made it a good atmosphere but the real issue was up in 314/315.

Yes, I think that's the most important question from last night. It would've made much more sense just to give them a bigger allocation in the first place.

Same with us going up there though Ric, we could easily have shifted 6000 for the away leg but were either only given 2700 or if rumours are to believed we turned down a larger allocation.

Agreed about just giving them SS Level 3 though

Would have surprised mate if we refused a larger allocation for up there , plenty chomping at the bit for that but points mean prizes.

Why didn't they just keep SS3 upper free and tell them to go in there if ticket

CL games are a pain in the arse with awful traffic, no beer, fans in home end. I think it's more likely that more will drop off although we may get more tourists to take up the slack.

I don't bother any more unless I fancy a particular game like Barca. Not regretting it so far. Enjoyed watching it on the tv last night.
