Celtic game - strict security measures announced (page 34)

I think it will take a serious kick off for the club to realise the fuck up they've made, maybe it needs it because it looks like City will sell to anyone & couldn't care less.

The back rows of 105 is for 'friends of UEFA'. These are usually mostly away fans and as far as I can tell the normal rules of behaviour don't apply to them.
The steward on duty told me they can't eject them because they are 'friends of UEFA' - they can do what the fuck they want - in other words the club know exactly what's going on.
They openly wear away colours, sing songs and generally act like arseholes with no thought for the home fans.
When a serious incident occurs and someone gets hurt the club will no doubt play dumb and say it couldn't be foreseen.

Two calls from City today. As directed, I complained to Danny Wilson but Paul from Supporter Services called me. He has a north east accent and I believe it's him who relocated me over the phone for this season. He too explained that numerous ejected fans had tickets supposedly sold to Blues and they'd tried everything to stop tickets falling in to the wrong hands. Handing your ticket on is illegal and sanctions will be imposed on them who do. I'd sooner lose my money than let a Celtic fan (or any other non-Blue) in my seat.

I then took a second call from a Wilson minion who checked my complaint was resolved. He sounded nervous and unsure of himself. I got rid of him quickly. I will no longer cancel the Champions League Cup Scheme but Tuesday night will live with me for a long time. Those pieces of shit ruined the evening.

All of this thread was inevitable the minute we drew them, luckily the game had nothing riding on it, otherwise there would have been serious trouble.

Good that UEFA have charged Celtic over their supporters behaviour.

Despite having a ticket I didn't bother (and no it wasn't passed on), as I couldn't be bothered spending 8-10 hours travelling to and from the game, and spending an extra £50 on fuel on top of the ticket (including an invariably closed somewhere M6, on the way home). Glad I didn't, had a nice meal and bottle of wine whilst watching the game on TV, albeit through the fog that is BT sports, and having to listen to that tw@t savage.

I honestly dont get why blues get all arsey about away fans been in the home end at the etihad
City were renound for doing this exact thing in the late 90s
and before you say yeah but we didnt take the piss
we did the frigging conga all over ewood park in 2000
and before you say yeah but we were going up the other night was a dead rubber
well for celtic it wasnt it means everything to them when they come up against english teams
also again it was a dead rubber why were we even arsed

yes we were all over Ewood park................not once did I hear us singing IRA songs or saw us throwing coins, lighters and slagging off the locals in their faces.

Wrong to compare the two

Is it totally beyond the understanding of the Ticket Office, (and judging from the previous posts, plenty of City supporters) that many Celtic and Rangers fans live in the North West, and might have a purchase history at all the major local grounds?
I remember United having exactly the same issues a few years ago, and their fans moaning in the MUEN.

I'm assured Celtic fans had Seasoncards belonging to Blues and also tickets that weren't in their name. A facility allowed those with booking history to buy more than one.

What more can the club do though? Stop anyone witha scottish accent coming in? Anyone wearing green?

I was just about to post something similar after I had read all the posts. How can City legislate for supporters who sell their tickets on to Celtic fans? They tried their best, there are lots of Scottish fans who probably support City whilst they are down here but support Celtic back 'home' who might have worn their Celtic shirts under their jackets and had a Manchester or NW post code. I know there appeared to be a few in 125 but they were quiet until the end and then took their jackets off to reveal their colours.

We can't entirely blame the club.

It would have been nice if the seat number takers were out as they are with us at games and the seats when traced back result in 3 game bans, I understand they couldn't turf out 3-4k of Celtic fans but at a normal game if you pass on your ticket has many probably did and there was an issue with whoever uses it the club treat you like shit.

It's only a matter of time until we get an all English CL game, it'll go off properly then.

I know calling for bans for our own fans isn't nice but the possible shitstorm of it going off everywhere would be worse.

I'm a little unsure as to what people think the club can do here, if someone is going to pass their ticket on to a Celtic fan, or if plenty of northwest Celtic supporters have a purchase history what can the club do about it? Unless you want people stopped and then have to produce photo ID to match the ticket you're holding (which would only prevent passing on tickets) there's nothing else they could do, and after all the complaining about wrist bands and photo ID when we've been away in Europe i doubt that would be popular at every home CL game.

Far too many on here have seen their arse because the guy next to them celebrated when his team scored, fuck knows how you lot cope when you watch a game in the pub if a rival fan is in?
They had a moment, the majority were reasonably well behaved and as far as i could see as many Blues were acting the **** as they were.
If anything i found it a refreshing change to be able to get a different view of an opponent than listen to the usual fuck wits slagging of each and every player.

Enjoyed my trip up there and the return leg, pity it can't be more like that every week tbh.

I've been friendly with a couple of Celtic fans over the years. I'd buy neither a ticket. Blues who passed their own Seasoncard on or bought for others may find themselves in trouble with the club.

Also, a fair number of the people in 93:20 and Joe's on League games don't support City. They buy tickets to entertain clients etc. This is why there are cheaper seats in South Stands L3.

Some of the people who buy these seats might find it easier to sell the tickets on to away fans at a profit because they are not Blues.

Once again, someone is talking shite. It's not about them just 'celebrating' it's singing IRA songs, goading the fans because they want city fans to get angry.

Did this actually happen or is it one of those anecdotal tales that get exaggerated?
I'm only asking because the Celtic fan next to me had a purchase history at the ETIHAD, and actually travelled to Groclin in 2003.
