Has any of our players ever gone there on loan and come back better than when they left?
Waste of time and we need to break ties for me

Wee Roberts was better when he left us than when he came. Wether that made him good enough for your first team isn’t a slight on him.

Boyata is a better player than the dud we bought from you.

Denyer left here better, but not as good as he thought he was, his attitude is shite and thinks he’s better than he is. VVD was always much better.

We don’t ruin players mate. You just have too many that will never be good enough to play for you. That’s the bottom line.

So, the question should actually be, will a loan to Celtic ever benefit a player good enough to be part of the senior squad here?

Fair point to be fair, they were probably never going to be good enough for our level, we just didn’t know at the time and the plateau to their development was lower than we had hoped.

However neither roberts nor denayer came back ready to work or push on. Both went to celtic, it was too comfortable and seemed to stall in terms of progressing here. They may be slightly better players as you would hope with getting older and playing games, but neither has made any impression on us.

Maybe that it was bad luck that both of them had relatively “poor” attitudes to what you’d hope of them. Maybe they thought that was more their level than city which is fair but its obviously not what the fans want to see - we want our own (kind of) to make it through the academy/loan system and represent the first team or at least produce value to the club.

Or maybe thats just what happens when you play for a team that wins the league without really struggling. It gives a incorrect view of game that means they cant adapt back to the competitive nature of the PL. Mind you, this year may finally be different in the SPL.

I do not see the benefit to loaning to celtic mate im sorry, its just not worked so far.

The question needs to be where they ever good enough to get into your team? I would say none of them were to the level required to get into your team. That goes for nearly all the players in the EP. Would you not agree?

The question for me should be, if we can improve them and you sell them on to lesser teams for good money then it helps your fair financial situation. It also allows young Guys not of that class you are lucky to have in your team to play. To develop. You take a punt on loads of young guys because you have the resources to. That model financially is dependent on recouping the initial outlay or playing in your team.

If you gave us a real star who would definitely get into your team in say two seasons, then playing with us battle hardens them. Playing in Europe allows them to test themselves against the best. That way we improve the guy. He grows mentally and his confidence grows because he has showed he can cut it.

We benefit for having precotious talent that even if it doesn’t hit the Silva et al level, we can possibly buy.

You need to ask any young player, would they prefer to play for us than say a championship team who never play in Europe, I think I know what the answer is.

A wider perspective is required as I think your focus is too narrow. I respect your view, but it has to be put in context in relation to whether they would ever play for city at all, and what would be best for them as young men desperate to play for a big club. We are in a shit league but we are a big club in temperament and history, we have one of the biggest supports in world football who expect more than is possible within our financial environment.

I hope we can continue to take your young players, as I think all three party’s benefit. You get to watch them in Europe. We get them for Europe and at the end if they do well you will get a return financially, or a player in the squad who you know can handle pressure.

Just my take.
