Mate, that obviously rings true. The big fly in the ointment is that when you guys have been in the Europa League in the same period, your results have just been as piss poor in that as they have in the Champions League.
100% true. But that’s the past. We got out of the league group. We have moved up a wee bit, we will hopefully step up another wee bit in the summer. We will probably never be able to compete with the top level or maybe even second level teams. That’s just life. But we can fucking try. I am really delighted with the team, the way we play, it’s fast and at times brilliant to watch. We will get better, we need to and the great thing is, we have the money to. Better for us is qualifying for it and getting to the knockout stage. As you pointed it, it’s been shit for too long. Under Ange you could see we were moving in the right direction. Rogers has continued that move forward. I have no doubt we will lose tonight. It may even be a scudding. Better teams than us have been ragdolled there. That’s fitba. But even if a ragdolling is suffered, my optimism and hopes for moving up another notch is stronger than at any time in my life as a supporter. That’s fucking great to feel. Took the cunts long enough.

You qualified through Rangers keeping the countries coefficient up

You got scudded 7-1 by the worst Dortmund in years. You played three teams who had zero points until about the last round of games FFS

I’ll give you credit for the 0-0 away to a high flying Atalanta. For once the press didn’t give you the credit you deserved for that one.

Absolutely no progress at all even after smashing your transfer record twice in the summer.

Still not won a knockout tie in over twenty years!!

As your own captain said ……‘it’s not that easy in Europe as the officials aren’t as lenient’!!

Ain’t that the fucking truth !!!!

20+ years and counting.

Bwahahahaha

Enjoy yer night

Last 16 of European competition isn’t for everyone

The best Scottish Performance in Germany since Rangers beat Bellingham and Haalands Dortmund 4-2

Last 16 of European competition isn’t for everyone

As much as I don't like Celtic, bragging about a last 16 Europa place over having to play Bayern Munich twice is a pretty weird flex.

Celebrating your rivals winning around £45m in prize money while you can’t afford to sack the manager who loses to Queens Park, is a bit of a stretch

It’s been 5 decades since they won a knockout tie in the latter stages of the Champions league. To be pedantic they’ve never won a Knockout tie in the latter stages of the Champions league as it was 1988/89 and the old European Cup.

The 20+ years is including the Europa / UEFA cup. I believe their last knockout tie victory was 2003.

You can’t expect Rangers fans not to celebrate Celtic still not winning a European knock out tie in 21 years
Switched it over to watch Dowell, Davies, Wright , Hanley and Dykes celebrating Bayerns late equaliser at Birminghams game… or maybe it was winning through to Wembley . Wee double celebration for them

Never bumped the HMRC and their creditors to the time of £80 million quid though so I guess they've got that going for them

Oh but they have. They used the dummy film tax avoidance scheme

Also Dermott has been dodging taxes for decades and why he’s never in the country

But tonight’s not about Tax avoidance schemes. Tonight’s about the annual glorious failure …

Bayern’s xG was double Celtic’s.

Bayern’s possession was double Celtic’s.

Bayern had more than 4 x as many shots as Celtic, and more than 3 x as many on target.

Bayern had more than 5 x as many touches in the box as Celtic. More than twice as many passes, and more than twice as many accurate passes.

Bayern had 7 corners to Celtic’s 0. Hit the woodwork. And forced Schmeichel into 9 saves to Neuer’s 1.

Statistically, it was one of the most one-sided European ties you can imagine.

You’ll remember this night fondly then when Celtic cruise to another treble.

You let your club die, you let your club die…..

Banter aside, I looked at the stats at the end of the first half and they were all very favourable to Bayern, a totally different story if you were watching the game. Just shows you, watching a match and simply looking at statistics doesn't always show the same thing. Bayern had one chance at the end of the half Kane hitting the bar while Celtic had 3 massive chances, and cut Bayern open twice, the other coming from a dispossession by McGregor.

Celtic were comfortable for large periods of that game, their pressing was good and most of Schmeichels saves were comfortable, they never really got cut open all game. I'm sure Bayern would have grabbed a goal had it gone to extra time, Celtic looked out on their feet. But overall it was a good performance from them.

Bayern won't go much further, they're too open at the back and there's always a mistake or three in Min and Upemecano. When it was 1-0 in the second half I thought Celtic could catch them with another goal on the counter attack the way it was going.

I'd say Celtic will struggle to hold on to Maeda and Kuhn this summer.
