Dont like the old firm especially the sectarianism but describing the game as a pub game is absolute bull both old firm teams would definetly do well in the championship if not stay in the premier league if they had sky tv money they would get europe. Also celtic put up a good show in the EL in a group with class teams like Atletico Madrid and Udinese. People need to stop over critising scottish football we have done very well with our population over the years england have 10x the population and relatively their sucess isnt much better.

celtic got knocked out easily twice.

Much as i despise celtic and all that they stand for, and likewise their weigan neighbours, they can show us the way in europe (though hopefully not for long)

They were 1 goal from going through the groups.

first or second time?

Second time. Yes they were well beaten by sion but what im trying to say is that celtic put in good performences against teams of a similar stature that teams like united and chelsea (genk, leveurkesen) couldn't beat. Scottish teams arent as bad as people think.

Is the SPL as good as the EPL or as i prefer to call it the Division One of the English FA, i think not, but both the old firm have reached european finals a lot more recently than we have, so perhaps we are not in the best position to judge,
Having attended games at Ibrox (a great stadium), Rugby park, Thon ground on the banks of the Tees, Ayresome Park and a few others, the passion for the supporters of Scottish fans is the same as we had in our dark days, so please less of the rag type gloating.
So did Fulham and Middlesbrough, so I'm not sure what that says about the quality of either the UEFA Cup/Europa League or the old firm, to be honest. I watched the Rangers game last saturday (against St Mirren, IIRC?) and, notwithstanding the rotten weather, the standard of football on show, even from Rangers, was pretty dire to be honest. Fair enough; it isn't ''pub football'', but I'd fancy most of the top 8 in the championship (the likes of Leeds, West Ham, Southampton etc etc) to give either of the old firm a bloody difficult game.

I see Hearts a few times a season, a few years ago we thought their revolution might break the old firm, got them to the cl. Unfortunately the lack of success and old firm domination has put Romanov off football and we all know the off field problems there. All Scottish teams are in danger of similar problems

Our bigots against their bigots?
C'mon our bigots!

The sad thing is that Scotland can genuinely lay claim to having contributed to the birth of football and its development on a world scale... and this is what it's been reduced to - a bunch of f**kwit fans belting out vile abuse at each other, oh, and a game of ball on the side.

Of course, I blame their bigots.

But you just see and hear what you want too.

Is the bile and abuse any worse than a Manchester derby or a United Liverpool match or Arsenal Spurs, Chelsea QPR , Barcelona R Madrid. Try listening at what is said at some of these matches and then try telling me it isnt as bad as whats said in Glasgow.

It's not as bad in any of those places though, is it?
And even if it were, two wrongs don't make a right.
