Good deal. I had a Worcester for many years. When it reached the end of life, I replaced it with an Ideal, which is probably the next best. Couldn’t get a Worcester as the only local firm that installed them went bust!
Modern boilers last about 15 years then parts start to fail and you should consider replacement. Gone are the days when my Potterton was still going strong after 30 years or so and I sold my house.
The first generation of heat pumps did not work below 0C which is crazy. The latest ones might be better but I would wait another 5 or 10 years.
The thing to check is the flow temperature for any central heating system. 60 is the minimum and the most efficient/cheapest, but 75 is cosier!
Note: I am not a plumber, just my research.

It’s always the gamble of paying more with cover/insurance for peace of mind or paying what you have to to get it installed and then hoping nothing goes wrong.

It packed up today. I heard it turn on this morning but after it didn't feel any warmer I checked the radiators. Stone cold. No idea what's happened. I had a new pump put in maybe 10-12 years ago, I'm not sure how long they last. I can't see a pilot light. Mind you the system is ancient it was in the house when I bought it in 1992.

Have you turned it off then on again, see if that works, failing that, try paying your bill.

Have a look at Boiler Central, they're doing a Veissman for a good price. I've always fitted my own until the block got put on.
Due for a new one myself but I'm thinking of upping sticks.

When I had one of the old gloworm boilers occasionally the thermocouple by the pilot light would fail. An easy fix.

Had a new boiler fitted 3 months ago, bought the boiler myself on a 5 year warranty and all in it cost around £1500 fitted...really pleased with it. If you want the name of the installer inbox me and I'll pass his details on.

Careful if your radiators are old, we got ours replaced along with new Vaillant boiler and piping 16 years ago and it is still going strong. We get it serviced annually by the same guys that fitted it. Meanwhile, some people we know did’t want the expense of replacing the rads and pipes and fitted a similar combi boiler. It conked out within months, apparently the gunk that had built up in the pipework and rads clogged the boiler up. They spent a fortune fixing it and ended up paying for a completely new CH system. Like others mention, check to see if you can get a grant, and make sure you get a gas boiler while you can. Heat pumps need massive digging even if you have a garden, an immersion heater and rads the size of wardrobes.

Did the installer not advise them to have it flushed mate ?
