Inigo is a good cb and fits Pep's playstyle well. If we get him it'll be good, left footed, strong guy. Fairly young so still can improve a fair bit. idk why people are so against this. Especially if it comes down to it he'll be a good option.

Is this serious? We've just had the best window in years and it's not even August yet. And you're saying you'd be disappointed if we sign a sensible choice at centre half for a reasonable fee in this market.

No. Rewatch the 1st leg vs Monaco and think about it. Komps is our only top defender, he's 31 and prone to injuries.

Not sure why being 31 is relevant — all that means is he's at his peak (like Sergio Ramos, Pique and Bonucci)...center-backs can play at the top level for a lot longer than forwards.

Best case here is that Kompany gets injured and we spend 50m on a center-back to play next to him. Worst case is we disrupt the excellent Kompany - Otamendi partnership and waste the 50m we spent on Stones by letting him rot on the bench. Bad for defensive cohesion, bad for Otamendi & Stones' morale, bad for youth development, bad for the balance sheet.

If we sign someone, I could see it being Javi Martinez as cover for both CDM and CB, that way he wouldn't necessarily stop Otamendi & Stones from playing.

If you include kids who have no league match experience and players who have been shipped out on loan because the manager doesn't rate them, possibly. At this stage we have 3 CBs who thus far Pep has considered worthy of consideration for first team duties. And two of them only tend to play well if they have the third one baby sitting them.

Tosin have no experience. he still looks awkward vs Rag.
loan him out, play regularly and get some experience.
Mangala and Denayer will be on loan.
one lengthy injury to Kompany, City will have to settle with Otamendi and Stones in most games.

the different is, this time there is no more Kolarov as alternative CB.

I hope Pep knows what he is doing because it seems to me we can spend as much as we want, 1 injury to Kompany and the season could be over.

Unless Pep has someone lined up he should be properly blooding Adarabioyo, working on getting Stones to be more ;level headed and Otamendi working better with him.

Major oversight if we fuck up because 1 centerback gets injured and the rest cant cope.

Perhaps we are one injury to Kompany away of a 'shortage' but what if he doesn't get injured, we can't have two 30mil CB on the bench.

I'm not worried about CB. Pep himself has said we need cover for the position and that was during the season when we still had Kola. Now that's he off I'm very, very confident we'll purchase a CB.

Maybe it's won't be a big money buy but we'll get one.

Or Pep will decide to keep Mangala or Denayer which IMO wouldn't be too bad.
