Just had surgery on a torn hamstring, apparently it separated from the bone, he won't be fully firing for quite a while. Summer purchase if anything.

Ah right didn’t think he was that badly injured mate, no point in that one at the minute then. Really hope we get a top addition though as we can leave Sanchez for a free in the summer and we should use the cash on a top CB ASAP. Really wanted VVD but £75m is waaaaayyyy over the top!

We should have been looking for the past two years. We need another centre back, we did at the start of the season. The scouts will have to earn their money on this one as replacing Vincent is not going to happen. We need a great backup for Stones and Otamendi.

Look it took a full season working with pep for stones to click so I think we need to get on this now whilst we are reasonably ok at The back.

I wonder if pep and txiki could be convinced to swallow their pride and go back for Laporte? We need top quality now to go alongside stones and otamendi and Laporte could cover left back as well?

I don’t think he’s remotely interested in coming to England. Has made it clear that if he leaves Athletic he wants one of Spain’s ‘big two’. Given Barca are now managed by Valverde - my guess is he’d go there if anywhere.

The problem with Martinez is I think he would have trouble settling in January. New language, culture, climate is difficult enough but to have to deal with it in the middle of the season is a recipe for disaster IMO. This will probably hurt his confidence and effect him long term. Maybe we are better off buying someone like Maguire or another PL CB or waiting until the summer.
