Centre back pairing

Give Kompany and Lescott a chance again. I think it's worth a go, previously I'd have said Lescott was the worst out of Nasti/Demi and him but given our recent form, it's worth risking Lescott and hoping he can rekindle his 11/12 partnership with Vinny which was nothing short of immense.

Nasty has the qualities to be a v good player but looks to have v little confidence in himself atm. He will only get this if picked on a regular basis. Lescott has already proved in 2012 he can do this too.

Richards and Barry were also good in 2012. Time has moved on.

Demichelis and Vinny for me. Chopping and changing the defence is a recipe for disaster and I think VK is the type of player that will appreciate having the same partner every game.

Agree although it's clear we need to sign a top quality defender in the summer.

How about Benatia in the summer? Has been absolutely fantastic with Roma this season and we don't have to deal with the headache that are the Portuguese clubs

Kompany and Demichelis
Both comfortable on the ball, MDM carries the ball out of defense, helps the midfield. If possession is lost, Kompany is always the last man, and he attacks the opposition, puts in a tackle. Opposition are scared of taking on Komapny so easily, as everybody knows he is the best defender in the League.
But, MDM is too slow to recover. Loses the ball one too many times.

Kompany and Nastasic
Komapny brings the ball out of the defense connecting the defense and midfield. Nastasic does a decent job as the last man, but nowhere near as good as Komapny as he is not too fast or aggressive enough to recover the ball quickly.
Great young prospect if he improves though.

Komapny and Lescott
Midfield have to come to carry the ball out of defense. Neither of them play the ball out of the defense, Kompany is always agile to cover for Lescott as everybody knows he is the least comfortable on the ball out of our entire squad, especially when opposition are pressing high up the field.
Lescott cannot be trusted as the last man, or a player to link defense and midfield and so he doesn't fit MP's system at all. A lot of respect for Lescott as he was the best partner for Vinny is title winning season, but his time with City is up.

Definitely the weakest link in our system, need an upgrade ASAP. MDM is close to the end of his career, and Nastasic is too young and inexperienced to be trusted, especially when we are challenging for titles.

I get mystified by these 'he has the qualities, 'he's young' etc throw away remarks... Would he be in chelsea,Arsenal, Liverpools back 4 -Not a chance........
What are these 'qualities' -he has no pace, he is rubbish in the air, he cannot tackle, his passing is average..The only 'quality' he seems to have is that he's under 25 ... let's deal in facts and evidence rather than emotion.

Last season he had the highest successful tackle % out of any defender in the whole league so don't give me the he can't tackle bollocks. He is also very calm with the ball at feet. I agree he should work on his ability in the air but he's only 20 and still learning a role you don't truly master until you are into your late 20 's. He just has zero confidence right now and that shows but im shocked at how fast some on here are writing him off. Seems to be the city fan mentality now "just keep buying players if one has a bad game".

They didn't. My point was that form/effectiveness/reputation can change substantially over a couple of years.

I think you knew that you little tinker. ;)
