Just can't see Delph being in a Guardiola squad for some reason

I think that Dinho and Delph will start every game until Gundogan is back. Delph is energetic, good with the ball, and a good tackler. Very underrated player and has heavily praised Pep in recent weeks. He is perfect for Pep's pressing and will improve as a player under his guidance. I do expect him to become a useful squad player once Gundogan is fit.

I can see delph as the "big surprise" this season.

Sorry but delph really is not a good player at all maybe pep can improve him a little bit but I only really see him as a back up left wing back or a cup midfielder.

Im not saying delph cant improve or won't improve but at present his passing is fucking woeful.....I agree with his other positives...energetic hard worker and a good tackler but his passing is just shit......he needs to improve hugely if he is going to deservedly nail down a place and if he is only getting into the team due to injuries then that says he aint good enough in the long term

I am surprised we haven't been linked to any young up and comers unlike what we have been doing every where else. I know we have some great players in the academy and that is why, but surely there are one or two out there we are looking at?

I agree. He was a true bargain at £8m. If he didn't have a release clause, he would of gone for a lot more. People think low price = low quality but that's not the case. Delph is a hungry player and didn't come to CIty to make up the English quota.

I remember when villa were at city he ran the midfield he was brilliant that game

Im completely willing to give Delph more time but he has shown absolutely nothing since he has been here. My opinion has nothing to do with that he is English or that he was cheap but everything to do with what I've seen of him on the pitch...even in the recent friendlies there were easy passes that he just messed up. Im sure he will improve under Pep but will it be enough?

His lack of creative ability is a big negative against him for me...I can see his other attributes as well however but they aren't enough for me...He needs to do more

Of course injuries really didn't help him last season nor did MP playing him wide left

I hope Delph has a great season, my concern though is how often he gave the ball away in virtually every match I saw him play for City. He was the breakdown of so many moves. If we're a possession team he has to be a lot more careful in possession.

But if Pep is happy he can make a player out of Delph that's enough for me.

Fernando and Delph aren't good enough.

Wouldn't surprise me if Pep plans on using Stones at DM at least some of the time and it's one of the reasons he really wants him.

Ideally would hope we bring in another CM who is good/creative on the ball and is defensively decent. If Gundogan isn't available our CM is gonna look alot weaker than the other contenders. Xhaka would have fit the bill over Fernando but alas.

After the sales of Dzeko, Fofana, Lejuene and Jovetic (Jan) we'll have spent around £123m on Stones, Gundogan, Sane, Nolito, Jesus, Zinchenko and Moreno, so with more sales (which we have to do anyway) money shouldn't be an issue

Hmmmm, hard to believe there is so much hand wringing considering the talent we have all over the park now. Internationals will be on the bench, with a couple of youngsters alongside them, yet we are STILL not happy. We are EVERY bookies favorites for the title, still not happy!!! Most people think Yaya, Nasri, Sterling, Iheanacho, Fernando, Mangala and Otamendi won't be getting a game, yet not enough???

It is clear that we are being built for the 2017-18 season, and this upcoming season is about Pep getting to grips with the Prem and making certain we are in amongst the Top Four for that year's Chumps Lge (and that we get into the latter stages this season), while hopefully winning a domestic pot!

Pep is reshaping the tea in his own image and a few players will soon realize they are going to be playing second fiddle THIS season and out the door next.

The future is BLUE!

We don't need another CM until Yaya is here. If Pep can motivate Yaya to perform well, then we are OK for this season. Yaya's career at the top level could come to an end based on this season. So, I believe that would be a personal motivation for him to give his best.
