I banged the drum for Nasri when many wanted him gone and I blamed Mancini for alienating him with defensive restraints and not playing him more centrally. But, even though I rate Samir highly, Fabregas is a better player. The thing is, they actually play well together. Signing Fabregas is an option that we need if Yaya goes to ACON, suspended or gets injured. He's also 4 years younger and we would be buying a player in his prime whom will justify his fee. He's not a flop because Barca don't want him, he simply doesn't fit their style of play as much as they'd like and he's too big a player to not use regularly. Yaya was a so called reject, look how that worked out

I think Fabregas probably is better than Nasri, but not so much better that it's worth spunking £30m on him. Even if they play well together, with the other players we have in midfield it's very likely to be one or the other. We don't need Fabregas to be an option but we do need an option. I think that Fernando will provide that comfortably and Garcia has proven himself a more than able deputy in the latter stages of last season. I'd agree with signing Cesc if Yaya was to leave, but it's just not worth it for the sake of a few weeks in January.
I think he's an excellent player, but not necessarily one for us and certainly not one for now with our budget restraints.

I personally feel the 4-2-2-2 is too open. I'd like us to play 4-3-3

LB - Kolarov
CB - Benatia
CB - Kompany
RB - Zabaleta
CDM - Fernandinho
CM - Fabregas
CM - Yaya
LW - Silva
CF - Aguero
RW - Jovetic/Nasri
Against teams we need to be defensively strong against I'd have Fernando and Fernandinho in a twosome and Yaya ahead of them, or Fabregas.
When Xavi got a knock for Barca they used Fabregas, when Bayern lose Schweinsteiger they can use Kroos, when Madrid lose Alonso they have Khedira etc, even Arsenal have better depth. When they lost Ramsey they had Wilshere, Cazorla, Ozil etc. When we lose Yaya we have nobody to call on of his quality. We need to prepare for losing Yaya for ACON and we must prepare for the future, I.e life after Yaya.
