CFG Expansion | Başakşehir to join? (p70)

Yes, but it’s peanuts really.
There’s probably loads more adding up to mid eight figures, not at all to be sniffed at
But until all these clubs all over the planet produce a single player good enough to play for City it is probably still hard to declare it a real success. Red Bull have already graduated a few from Austria to their Bundesliga team

The primary goal should be finding these Endrick kids first before any of Europe are sniffing around and getting them at Bahia. Not only does that help them domestically, it gives us control of their future. We can have a serious conveyor belt of both talented kids with potential to play for us and profitable kids we can pump out to Europe to pay for our transfers coming through Brazil if it's done right. This has by far the biggest potential benefit to city of all the CFG clubs with the talent in Brazil.

The question is whether CFG has an objective to produce players for City. I am increasingly concerned by Soriano wearing two hats. Nothing serious at the mo but just an uneasy feeling. The need for a return on the investment requires some CFG clubs to look to their own success, not City’s.

CFG club is not satellite club for City, it's very disrepectfull eventhough currently City is the main club of the group right now.

Some of the club takes from our club as inspiration like for example NYCFC but others have their own proud history before joining CFG like recent acquisition Bahia.

CFG already is success, creating global network to unveil talent is already enough sucess imo.

Not sure I share the unease tbh. Sister clubs being feeder clubs for City would seriously undervalue the group as a whole. The objective is presumably to have clubs that are successful in their own countries and in their own right. Not sure why that's a problem?

It will be interesting to see if Soriano and his football management team stays at the CFG level, or whether they get shunted down to "Midco" at some point, now they own all the football operations.

CFG will definitely do that in Bahia. The first step is trying to hire João Paulo Sampaio as Head of Youth Development. He is the guy who has built such a conveyor belt in Palmeiras to discover talented kids like Endrick and others. CFG has already opened talks with Sampaio, but signing him won't be easy, since his contract with Palmeiras has a huge release fee, and he's also received a proposal by CBF to be the Head of Youth Development of all Brazilian National youth teams. On the other hand, Sampaio is native of Salvador and is said to be a Bahia supporter before working on professional football. So, let's see if CFG can pull that out.

here's Sampaio profile in FM 2023, if you are interested

It’s literally called the City football group. Some of the clubs were created and didn’t exist beforehand. Some have changed their names and their colours to sky blue. Some have adopted versions of our badge
Absolute nonsense to suggest MCFC aren’t at the very top of the pyramid with the best players in the best team in the best league

It’s laughable that anybody could think that City are anything but the absolute pinnacle of the CFG.
