CFG Expansion | Başakşehir to join? (p70)

It’s literally called the City football group. Some of the clubs were created and didn’t exist beforehand. Some have changed their names and their colours to sky blue. Some have adopted versions of our badge
Absolute nonsense to suggest MCFC aren’t at the very top of the pyramid with the best players in the best team in the best league

But not every CFG club is named "City" and CFG is not forcing every club that joining must change the badge and name. Maybe earlier acquisition might be true because club is building from the scratch or have very short history. But later CFG acquistion more often than not already have long history before joining CFG. Suggesting CFG approach right now is not treating the club like it's satelite for City, unlike similar model like Red Bull Group.

Manchester City is the current chief club for the CFG right now, but there will always possibility even the chance is slim that in the future some Club like NYCFC will have near or same status like Manchester City if Football or Soccer become the main sport in US.

Soccer is never going to be the main sport in the US. Its absolutely light years from being on the same page as the others.

I don’t think the bosses measure the success of CFG by how many players end up at City they see the bigger picture how successful are all the clubs in their own right. It’s not a completely impossible for NYCFC and say the Clubs in the emerging markets to grow more quickly.

NYCFC have done much going for them growth of soccer people have gone off NFL and Baseball demo graphics a lots of people of Spanish descent a massive city a better economy increasing number of franchises a better link to the corporate finance and social media world

The clubs don’t exist just to serve city even if they benefit City

I think that's right. I doubt Mansour's ambitions for this "project" stop at City being successful, or even at on-field football. There will be some big changes in the next few years I think.

The goal of CFG is very simple, asset value speculation. Young players in Brazil could be worth many millions of pounds in the future. But until CFG bought Bahia they didn't have a local club they could sign under 18s to.

It will add a dimension to Bahia where players in Brazil will see a direct pathway to European football through CFG, via many clubs and dangle the carrot of Manchester City in Europe's top leagues.

Troyes are training at the City Academy. Girona play there soon. City Women have held high profile games over there and linked to women's clubs globally. The academy links and potential is substantial.

Whilst City were seen to have forced their identity onto Melbourne Hearts and Sichuan Jiuniu, they have since been much more engaging with clubs globally. Yokohama F. Marinos certainly have their character. New York City are distinct now too.

Be nice if we bid for Aberystwyth Town and a Scottish club.

New kit for newly promoted Bahia before the new Serie A season kicks in.
