I agree with Joe.

Lets not forget that in his last season here in the Prem he got
Fat frank, zabs and somebody else sent off in a matter of weeks.

Excellent player though Alonso. A bit like Gazbaz.

To be honest, the camera angle on the footage in one of the above posts is not the same as what ITV broadcast and does not show the sheer savagery of it. He can apologise all he likes, it doesn't excuse him. One of, if not the worst thing I've seen in the game. He went in halfway up his shin, looking to break his leg. And at 70 minutes gone, there would have been no motivating adrenaline, just calculated cruelty that's best left to animals.

Poor Alonso, he seems to always be at the receiving end of some shocking tackles.

nasty , simply nasty tackle and very malevolent. It's up there at about a 9/10 for me. No footballer should make challenges like that. What can you gain from going in like that?
