Champions League 15/16 seeding - City CONFIRMED Pot 2 - Pg20

@ftg or anyone else know a way of finding out the tv pairings in advance of the draw?

Assuming United and Valencia make it through qualifying, if we're in Chelsea's half we have a 1 in 3 chance of getting Barca. Depending on whether Bayern are paired with Leverkusen or not, we may end up with a 66% chance of Bayern or Barca.

If we're in the other half to Chelsea we can't draw Barcelona, and depending on the Bayern pairing we might not be able to play them either. Would much prefer not to be in that half.

Is this how it works? I always thought they worked out the TV schedule after the draw

The fixtures are worked out after the draw, but they make sure the likes of Real and Barca are in different halves of the draw so they play on different nights (in theory maximising the tv viewers). England will probably have 4 teams so they will make sure 2 are playing one night and 2 playing the other.

What a load of bollocks this draw system is.

The simple way of doing it is the league winners for the top 8 nations are kept apart. Then everyone else is in a random draw.

If it ends up City, United, Madrid and Barca in a group then great. Same as if it was Basle, Celtic, Maribor and CSKA.

Matches would be much more exciting if teams knew they had a legitimate chance of qualifying. Also a good CL run could financially benefit a team from the lesser nations.

It would also bring back the luck of the draw and let's face it, it would still be impossible to win the competition without beating some of the best teams.

That's far to simple for the idiots that run the game! But I agree 100%

This is wrong.

I've just watched the 2014/15 draw and it's actually a "fair" way to do the draw. Basically they have the 4 pots with the 32 teams and a seperate group pot that gets refilled everytime a team from pot 2 below gets drawn (the pot is refilled specific to which groups the drawn team can go in). It has nothing to do with splitting pots based on TV.

so for example

pot 1 teams will always have 1 in 8 chance of landing a particular group. so say Chelsea got pot A

pot 2 teams is where is gets more interesting so if Manchester City was drawn first out of pot 2 the group pot would only be refilled with balls from B to H. Lets say E as an example
The next team out is United then the group pot gets refilled with B,C,D,F,G,H

this carries on for the rest of the draw

how can it be a fair draw when you are pick out of your pot and told you are in that group ????????????
its a joke of a competition and not fair to everybody why have a seeded system when a teams that never won it like (arsenal) and last won the premier league 10 years ago seeded higher than Manchester city

just draw the bloody groups out of 1 pot 32 teams and play the game the groups that you are picked to play so what if you get barca Madrid munich PSG or man city man united Chelsea arsenal in fact will make for a better draw and be fair to all clubs

If you notce my word fair is in quotations to infer my disliking of seedings. I was responding to a post who suggested the pots get further split based on TV viewings which isn't the case
